Bleached bodywork

In any car park on a sunny day, touch the roof of a black car then touch a silver or white one and you will definitely feel a difference in surface temperature. With the 'greenhouse effect' of the windows and variations in insulation thickness etc. the interior temperature may not vary so much.
.
I once read it was meant to be about 30 deg difference inside the vehicle.

what can be done...

For an excellent sealant look on ebay for Supaguard, it is really good and easy to apply.
For the final coat use a pure wax. You can buy all kinds of fancy waxes but any pure wax will do. I have taken to using solid furniture wax after being disappointed with EVERY car wax I have ever used.

Car waxes are easier to apply but just don't stay on long enough or offer enough protection and because they have powder in them they leave a white residue. Another advantage is that it works wonders on plastic and rubber parts, including tyres.

I'll get my coat.....

Our first Sprinter which was the same colour only had the standard Mercedes-Benz air conditioning. One hot summer we were stuck in one of the many M5 traffic jams and boy was I hot. The two front seat passengers were lovely and cool, but the trunked air could not cope with the sun beating onto the bodywork. We learn by our mistakes :) This vehicle has a very much improved system

It is absolute tosh to say dark colourded vehicles do not absorb the summer heat.
