I have a bluetooth facility installed as part of the COMAND APS system on CLK: but still not sure how to use it, it only recognise a bluetooth device nearby, but there is no actual communication with the mobile phone! Any ideas, help in this matter please?
Many thanks

Hi ammaralhasso

You can think of Bluetooth as a short range version of WiFi. It has a maximum range of around 10m. A high power version exists (100m) but is not implemented in vehicular design.

Bluetooth requires the setting up of partnerships or pairings between pairs of devices. One of the most common problems with Bluetooth is that paired deviced can readily detect one anothers Bluetooth signal but they cannot communicate because they are unable to detect each others properties. The COMAND system needs to know that the other device is a mobilephone otherwise it won't know how to communicate with it.

From what you describe the two devices evidently detect one another presence but they are not yet paired. You have to set 'trust' and 'discovery/recognition' levels and a passcode may also be required. It is usually a straightforward process but you may need to tinker with different properties until it works.

Once again many thanks Phil for your comments, I have tried various things and as you suggested too, but no luck so far. Seem like I need to make a visit to MB garage for some input, in case there is somthing faulty.

Kind regards
Ammar

It doesn't work directly to a phone - the only thing you (apparently - I've never tried it) can do is to pair COMAND with a bluetooth headset.
MB are in the process of introducing BlueTooth phone kits, but these work in conjunction with the UHI phone interface.

Many thanks.
