Just what we needed...a squished 3 series. How creative of them.

Yeah looks quite good.

Will consider a 1 series when the time comes to change the Golf.

nice looking - reckon it'll feel more cramped in the rear than the hatch due to the lower roofline but does look good.

Wonder what the next C SportCoupe will look like though. Seen a couple of new Cs on the road and they look great.

Too many angles.

 Pictures never lie! It looks quite roomy :)

I've only ever seen one 1 series and was very surprised at how small they were. That's not a criticism of the model, it is just a small vehicle which I find unusual for BMW.

The picture looks very nice but I have a sneaking feeling that in real life it will look quite small?

John

Have to say I'm surprised at the positive feedback for this car. As Glojo says, it will be a small car, but more than that, it has nothing original going for it. The Z4 coupe has a definate shape (errr... another small coupe), this is just bland. It's as exciting as VW producing the Bora... hbvgggggggggggggggggggggggggg.....sorry my head hit the keyboard as I fell asleep.

Like it....Certainly will ensure the old shape 1 series drops in value...:D

I can't believe what I'm reading here. To me it is absolutely Chris-Bangle hideous. Pure YUK. And what is it doing on a Merc forum? Should be in other marques or a large dustbin.:)

The One Series is nice but not great, if you must have a BMW and you must have rear wheel drive then great, however when I tested a 118d it was no better than a lot of front wheel drive cars (we ended up with a Civic which saved us thousands before taking into account the ever present German options list). Also the front is slightly cramped and has the one thing I can't stand, offset steering wheel.

Oh, and slightly off topic - the dealer kept quiet about the imminent 1 series face lift (Late 2006), that will cost them later

A good car but probably not worth the premium - a top spec second hand one may be another story.

Mike

And while I'm banging on - are BMW going the way of too diluted a model range, fill every niche etc.?

Sexist rubbish. I thought this kind of remark went out in the early eighties. My daughters, if they were moderators, would sin bin you for a week at least!:)

Will the 1 series be the same size as the CLK or will it be a 'childs' car? :)

Regards
John

remember that the 1 series coupe will be available as a 135i with the 306 bhp 3 litre twin turbo straight six .. making it very fast, with 0 to 62 in just over 5 secs!

I am still fascinated as to why moderators have not moved this thread to other marques. Are BMW moles in charge?
