E46s are starting to rust all over now, more than just the typical arch issues. the subframe issues were not related to corrosion. I've had 2 330s and an M3 of the platform, great cars, but go in with your eyes open. I can only reiterate poking around M3 cutters, I've been on there over 10 years now and you wont find a better repository of information on these cars

Redish are one of the most respected garages in the "scene" who do a lot of subframe repairs and developed their own plate kit for E46s - granted this is an extreme example from Scotland, but look at the state of this from a couple days ago
