E400D 2019 (prev MBs - 320 CLS, '08 CL500).
Hi all. Just joined - I pick up a 29k miles metallic grey 2019 E400D AMG Line Premium Plus on Thurs., so I'm keen to find out more about maintenance, diagnositcs etc. what to watch for / early signs of problems and so on.
Had a couple of Benz before - an early 320CDI CLS, many years ago and a black 2008 CL500; both good cars. Loved the CL for its looks especially with the windows down and also its rarity here.
The CLS was nice (always liked that shape) but a tad slow. I came from a '99 4.0 V8 XJ8 to the CLS, two very different cars. The Jag handled surprisingly well but simply guzzled fuel whereas the CLS seemed CLS nose heavy, and very 'understeery'.
Sold the CL when I retired early, in '19, and got a '14 Audi SQ5 TDI - nice car, torquey and lively but seems a tad top heavy.
Looking forward to my 200+ miles drive home. (car is in England).
Would welcome any comments and experiences on E400Ds; likes & dislikes about them etc.
Will post pics of my car soon.

A quick update - my E400D hasn't arrived yet - minor hiccup with a battery sensor but the replacement part took a week or so to turn up, so I get it on Sat morning.
Anyone out there lowered an 2019 E400D 4-matic saloon? (mine's on the 20" AMG wheels - but have yet to see what tyres are on it).
I'm keen to know what the car will feel like with 20" wheels, and lowered. Does the ride get harsh?
I see H&R do springs that supposedly suit my car and for a sensible price, so would get them and drop them in if I was confident it wouldn't destroy the ride, or quickly knacker the tyres.
The stated 30mm drop seems quite a lot especially as I believe the PremiumPlus AMG line spec car is already lower by 15mm from the base model E400D.
I'd think a further 30mm affects the camber although I don't know yet what the camber change is through the suspension travel range. I'll be trying to measure that some time in the new year.
Any feedback or info would be most welcome! cheers.

One thing to be aware of. The brake pedal goes hard on some of those 400d's. This is because coolant gets into the brake booster from the engine vac pump. Its a big job to do and about £5k at main dealer IIRC

Hi , I was leant the car you are buying by the Mercedes dealer who services my C207.

It had only 30 miles on the clock so I behaved my self but it was a really nice car that slipped the fuel. What i found strange that the internal space was smaller than I imagined.

My car has the 7 speed stop start gear box and I did not notice the 9 speed box on this car being any smoother.

I really did enjoy my day out in the car and I feel you will be over the moon with your purchase.
