cls 350
Hi,

I have noticed some rust and scuff on the driver's door of my CLS 350.

I live in London.

It's quite a small fix, but prefer to go professional.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

V

Looks like the scuff has exposed the metal causing the surface corrosion. Doesn't look bad. Any competent body shop should fix this no problem.

After some quotes,

Have bee told that it is best to get the whole door painted. Have been quoted £190, and one garafe said £500!

Feel that's a big rip off, surely smart repair is there for these kind of situations.

Have contacted chipsaway but not had a response yet.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Looks like it'd touch up DIY.
If you pay out, Sod's law will be invoked.

Where are you in London?

£500 for the whole door is not a rip off, paint would have to be blended across the panels either side to make it look good. £190 on the other hand will most likely result in a **** job that will need re-doing within a short space of time.

If you just paint the door it will stick out like a sore thumb as said it would need blending.

Looking at it I think you could get away with a localised repair. It doesn't look to warrant a door/paint blend jobbie unless you have other blemishes you could take care of it all in one go.

Problem with that as I found you find other blemishes and you want those painted to. A good bodyshop and the costs soon mount up.
