Boot sizes

The web page has a compatibility checker and it says it is not compatible with your car.

thanks, but that is just an ebay thing and only as accurate as what the seller wishes to put in. If the seller doesnt want to check these things himself, they will just list the vehicle it came from as opposed to what it may fit.

all I need to know is whether an E class boot is the same width as an ML.

Get the tape measure out & nip down to your local MB stealer/specialist, if they think you're buying, you might even get a cup of tea!

On second thoughts - take some loose change for the tea machine - knowing MB & their prices!!

Think i will wait to see what others members think before that i start measuring up dealers cars, although a cuppa tea would be good.

Hoping that the boot floor is same on ML and E class at least in easy load rail lengths.

Hello

I had a S211 before the current ML164

The boot floor on a ML is shorter than the E class, width is the same.

Thanks very much a210amg just what i needed and supected that the E class is same width but a deeper one.

Dieselman - im glad i didnt title this how bigbis your trunk!!!!!!!!

If you tell me where you want it measured from i will go and measure mine for you.

Merc estate thankyou very much. What i am looking to do is install the MB easy load boot system in my ML, but all i can source is E class rails.

I am looking for the width between rails and the over all length ( they run down the sides of the boot floor which you lift up to give you access to spare etc). Heres the best diagram i could find -

mercedes easy pack load securing kit - Google Search

Hope that makes sense. The rails replace the bolt down eyes n hooks.

Thanks again for your help.

I dont know where this fits to measure if it fits in groves in floor mine is a 7 seater so does not have that in boot sorry about that, Happy hunting.

Isn't the question a little academic...the bars are adjustable for width.

No its not that straight forward, they are only adjustable within limit, if the width of an E class is far greater than an ML they will be fine but if narrower then there could be an issue. I want to check but will speak to a stealer next week ref the rails.

Just ensuring MB didnt do something daft like making these items custom per model!

Think about it.

Right?

Now, do you really think an E Class will be far greater than an ML, or much narrower...of course not, so, the question is indeed academic.

@renault12ts I dont actually see what your driving at? Whether it is obvious or not, I chose to ask to gain some factual knowledge not just guess that a manufacturer chose to make the ML boot shallower but the same width as an E class. Logic would in fact say the ML boot floor pan be longer and wider than an E not shorter.

So whether its academic or not is neither here nor there - the whole reason for this post, and rationale for sites like this is knowledge sharing and helping others with useful information.

Sorry I have never been in an E class nor studied its boot up close, but my experience with manufactures goes one of two ways, platform and parts sharing or more frequently customisation of components.

but if you feel it was entirely obvious from the start that an adjustable luggage bar listed for a different model would definitely fit in another model that's great - thanks for sharing.

But as you see, I was trying to get information on actual floor pan depth - or is that academic as I could just cut down a long E class one to fit an ML?

Logic would actually suggest that the floor pan of the biggest estate car on the market (E Class) would be longer than the ML. And as for width...pretty much the same.

again thanks for sharing!

although maybe we are now going down the route of volumes which can be alterted by changing the parameters of a tailgate door as opposed to floor pan dimensions to claim such impressive titles, but again, going off topic as still doesnt answer the other questions of the actual length of the cargo rails on either an ML or an E.

In the E Class the rails for the cargo holders run either side of the third row seats...so, about a 94cm wide.
