Brabus or AMG?

The potential for a real Q car and some numpty slaps two silly badges on it, just making it a laughing stock! Sigh.....

The badges spoil the car and let it down and the bumpers look a bit plain without the PTSs...

The rear of the car looks soo wrong in my opinion.

I always thought that Skipton came under West Yorkshire...?

Oh dear  do you think he knows that it has not really been done by Brabus? :D

Well it has got AMG wheels and kit, and the engine has been tuned by Brabus, so he has both badges. Better than every other seller claiming thier car is an AMG, specially equipped with classic wheel covers.

In my opinion if a car does not have an AMG/Brabus engine then it should not warrant the badges full stop... Debadged cars are the best and look "sleek". All goes well my S500 W221 will be arriving later during the year and I am going to too have that debadged of the engine size despite having AMG bodykit/alloys from the factory.

It has Brabus tuning - so it qualifies in that respect. AMG suspension and bodykit doesn't warrant an AMG badge in my book either.

*shrug*

My old 5 series BMW had a whole bunch of M power tuning done to it - suspension, engine, bodykit and the like - but it didn't have any badges at all. Conversely, my friend had a BMW marked as an M5, but all it had was an M power steering wheel ;-) To be fair, it was a 540 and went like stink! But what I'm saying is, each to his own.

This car has a Barbus engine, and AMG suspension, brakes, wheels and body kit. It has been tuned both by Brabus and by AMG. Why would it not warrant the badges?

Personally I probably wouldn't put them both on. But surely it's up to the owner? Not everyone wants a 'Q' car?

Just because his taste is different to yours, doesn't make him wrong. At least the car actually has been tuned by Brabus and AMG. How many cars do you see with Brabus/AMG badges which have nothing more than an AMG gear lever?

In my opinion only genuine AMG/Brabus cars are worthy of the badges BUT I dont like badges full stop. A BMW 540I is not worthy of a M badge despite how quick it is as it is not a genuine M5....

I saw a genuine SL55 AMG at a McDonalds Drive through last month and the owner had it debadged it all round (trunk lid and front wings) and I rate him for doing that.

Debadging is just as bad as overbadging in my book. All signs of a complex of some sort!

Its better to have nothing than "pretend" to be something that your not... Now that I feel is an inferiority complex...

Plus cleaning/waxing around MB chrome badges is a pain - especially "Kompressor " badges... :)

I prefer the 'clean' look , i don't allude to the whale being anything she isn't ...

I don't drive her like shes a 300 or a 320 , no point , those in the know would know what to look for anyway .... ( single exhaust instead of twin for eg )

As Flash says, it makes waxing easier ......

Wolf in sheeps clothing springs to mind, what's wrong with that?

Something like an SL55 is never going to be mistaken for anything other than what it is badges or no badges .....

Cerberus in wolfs clothing more like ....
