Brabus Performance Upgrade

How come you don't know what engine you bought ?
You could try a couple of ways...

Google your engine number ie enter c220 om646.963, comes back with 150PS for mine, or undo the 2 fuse box covers, left corner of engine bay next to windscreen, (make sure wipers are verticle) - you should find a lable on one of the cables near the ECU with the details on it.

There is probably a really obvious way that I don't know about.

As for the Carlsson Eco - so far don't bother..Apart for the hassels and bulls**t I got from the dealer - After ordering it my self from Germany it arrived by TNT the next day, but

Zero - Zilch - none - NO extra power.

I timed 50 - 75 in 4th / 5th - exactly the same time with or without the carlsson - down to a 10th/sec
I also have an acceleration meter which although is probably no where near calibrated also gave the same reading, 0.14G max from 50-75 in 4th gear with or without the carlsson.
(There are big differences in 2nd, 3rd and 5th gear acceleration readings so it should at least show a change)

It does however seem like it wants to hold onto 4th gear for longer so it must be doing something although I need to drive it for longer to be sure

I'll run it for a full tank and see what happens - probably another week or so yet - still got 1/2 tank left before I can refill and start an average mpg test.

Cheers
Adam

The end of the Carlsson Eco

For any one who might be remotely interested and hasn't got completely bored with the Carlsson saga - I have now removed it completly.

Carlsson Eco connected - 54.19 liters gave me 410 miles = 34.39 mpg
Carlsson removed - 48.86 liters gave me 377 miles = 35.07 mpg

Obviously not exactly the same road or speed but 2 average weeks of both stop start, A road and motorway driving.

As I mentioned before there was also no performance gain from the extra 50lb of torque or 15bhp in the mid range that was supposed to be there.

Something didn't add up somewhere ?!

I am now going to wait for Matt@Felsham who has basically the same car - same poor mpg - and hopefully will be doing a re-map very shortly.

Let us know how the remap goes. I was going to order the Kleeman KD Box, but Elephant insurance will not cover it, although they will cover others?, so I'm still looking at alternatives.

As I've mentioned all along stay away from bolt on's & go for remaps, but bare in mind you will only get crispier throttle response, slightly better midrange, smoother engine & 10% better MPG.

The main problem for me with a remap, the car is less than 3 years old (warranty intact) and although at least one company offers a remap which is invisible to a Mercedes dealer, that will not stop them overwriting the ECU if there are any software updates etc. So a remap could invalidate the warranty or be a waste of money if overwritten.

The company who does the remap should be more than willing to remap it for you for a much smaller fee.
