Previously featured in Mercedes Enthusiast a few years ago. Then it was for sale with a LHD specialist car company a year or two ago, when it appeared to be in a very sorry state!

But someone has obviously spent much time and money rescuing the car and it's for sale once again!

Certainly looks the part ...

You'd want to confirm that the roll bar retracts as it is meant to do though , and see what condition the hood is in .

I remember when it was previously for sale, they mentioned the hood was in a sorry state. One would hope that if an owner has gone to the trouble of sorting out the interior, they would sort out the hood, too.
So checking it would be a must. I can't imagine those soft-tops are particularly cheap!

Very nice car even though it's pre-facelift.

Nice car but I think it's just a little too expensive personally. LHD and the old style prefacelift R129 interior etc put me off.

SL55s can be had for not a whole lot more cash these days?

But it is rarer and shouldn't be too far the pace of a 55 :D
As you say it is LHD drive, though.

O/T, but how much do you think it would actually cost to convert such a car to RHD? £5k, £10k?

Hmm, I have vague recollection of seeing this car before, many many moons ago at a friend's birthday party (probably 8-10 years ago)

One of his colleagues (who frankly had more money than sense - his garage included a Bimota SB6 and a Fireblade that he'd thrown £25k at) turned up with it. Went for a spin and remember it going like a greased weasel, but the interior was very brown indeed!

Nice car, but i've bought a 6.9 Gemballa SEC...i don't need too many specialist engines as these things cost an arm and a leg when they go wrong with their custom components !

If it was a 7.2 V12, i might consider it....

I have seen a 7.2 Brabus V12 in a w124 500E ....most amazing sight ever !!!!

Wasn't the "other" Brabus V12 a 7.3?

The W140, C140 and R129 getting the choice of the 582bhp with the 7.3S Engine.
Then, of course, the infamous EV12 based on a W210.

Quite why the ORIGINAL EV12 never made any headlines is beyond me  - the original one being this 6.9 V12 Brabus engine in a W124. Then the larger capacity Brabus V12 being added later.
I believe tuning firm VAETH also squeezed a 7.2 or 7.3 V12 into an E500

I think i was a 7.2 in reality but labelled '73'....falling in line with the 3.6 displacements of the in-line 6s that Brabus modified.

That was the VAETH one I was thinking of, Howard.

Appeared on mobile.de a couple of years ago. Wasn't it also listed on German Ebay, too

Does look very nice, although at that sort of money i would take an SL55 AMG over this.

Don't know if you'd get one for £18k ....
