The estate car now begins the transition from multi-tuner 3.0 M103 car into a 5.6 M117 Brabus beast.

As shown in the other thread, the Brabus roll bar has already been fitted. Next up, wheels and bodywork.

I had already fitted the Brabus rear apron over a year ago, but didn't find side skirts or front bumper to match. So ended up fitting AMG skirts and Carat Duchatelet front bumper.

Finally got hold of the right bits. Fitted up the front bumper, refurbishing the bumper bar at the same time and cleaning up the fog lamps.

Fitted up the Brabus monoblock I wheels as well. Need to get the outer dish polished to restore original look, will do this soon.

Also replaced the Us spec clear and amber indicator lenses (same as Jay's E500) to the period correct orange ones. Aim is to get the car looking exactly like the Brabus press pic w124 TE car.

Also got the period correct Brabus tailgate badge...absolute gold dust, can't find these anywhere !

Next steps are fitting the side skirts, then removing the 3 litre lump, welding in the neccesary components required for the V8 M117, then dropping that in. Physical fitment and plumbing are the brief challenges with this conversion, wiring is a doddle.

Also fitted up a period Brabus steering by Victor....not something that everyone would like but it's period correct, feels great and is another Brabus goodie !

Need to find the Brabus rear box for this car to complete the look.

Car needs a bottom-half blowover...will wait until conversion is complete, just incase i smack the engine against the body when i'm hoisting it in !!!

Mate of mine has an '88 original. Badge is on N/S. FYI.:)

Also, all body fixtures are body coloured. Roof rails, door handles, grille et al. Roof rub strips are removed.

Those wheels are almost identical to some Borbets I'm refurbing.

Hadn't noticed them both being stubby until now. Is the vision affected much.?

Not at all, i've done this mod on every w124 i have had...aesthetically more pleasing to see identical shaped/sized wing mirrors :)

In the process, i always ensure both mirrors are electrically adjustable, so do the wiring and twin mirror switch etc.

cheers

There seem to be a few interesting projects going at the moment, interested to see the outcome of this one. Keep it up its looking amazing already. Any pictures of the inside with the Brabus steering wheel ?

its a terrible colour but looks perfect on an estate, thats weird as if it were a coupe it would look wrong

there is something wonderful about the w124 estates
