Hi guys,

I have just ordered front discs and pads for my 2014 s212 e63 estate and am struggling to source braided brake hoses within the uk.

Does anyone know where I could find these please front and rear?

I'd go direct to the makers. Goodrich and Hel for starters. They'll do a bespoke kit for you. Venhill supply you with all the parts you need to make your own lines. They all sell online or over the phone.

I never would of thought to go direct to suppliers. Just tried goodridge and hel both don’t have the specs for the hoses so means sending mine in, I really need hoses that are stocked as my brakes are arriving next few days.

Goodridge for me too, got these on the E55.

If you can't wait with sending them away I'd just go OEM.
I’m wanting uprated braided hoses I’m wanting the best pedal feel as possible. I’ve managed to source some should arrive next few days

^^^** this

I was also told of updating to braided hoses, they should be fitted to both axles to maintain the balance

yeah I’ve ordered a front and rear set as above so I’m fitting all 4, I’m sending all calipers away to Bodyshop to be sprayed with high temp paint and lacquered. Will obviously check all 4 calipers and pistons working as they should and no rubbers split. Nothing worse than a split rubber!
Rear discs and pads are in good condition so leaving them for now.

As an aside, many motorcycle insurers now class braided brake hoses as a modification. Not sure if the same applies to car policies, but maybe worth a call to confirm?
I contacted Direct Line about fitting braided brake lines and they informed me they would withdraw cover if I went ahead..

My experience with DL is that they are totally inconsistent regarding modifications. I’m not sure whether it’s at underwriter level or at the front line, but whichever it is, I wouldn’t even consider putting business with them if I either had a car with mod's on it or intended to make mod's to it as they seem to make it up as they go along.

Out of curiosity, to what benefit?
Just to get the whole system in harmony.
Actually there is no benefit in braided lines except where they replace flexi rubber sections. Rubber / synthetic lines can balloon under extreme braking pressure. Best example is motorcycle front brakes. Braided lines maintain brake force. Waste of time on rear brakes which are hardly ever used and need more feel to stop a lock-up.

There would be zero benefit of changing all brake pipes to the car there is zero rust to them at all. I am literally changing the flexy hoses as I’m changing front discs and pads and sending all calipers away to get painted anyway. I’ll then be changing all brake fluid to mobul 660. If I don’t get a better pedal feel after changing discs/pads/flexys/fluid after bedding them in I’ll be really surprised.

I'd do a full system from M/C to all wheels.

And replace the brake lines running to the hoses with what?

The OP was asking about replacing the hoses not the pipes???

I thought it was clear I was referring to front and rear axles on a car but perhaps it wasnt clear enough.

no matter the op knows what he is doing

Exactly. So there's only any point in replacing flexible hoses with braided lines.
