Brake lights permantley stay on (W210)

I've got a W210 (E220 CDI estate).

Not sure why, but the brake lights are on permantley. I plan to get the car serviced soon but need to get this sorted in the mean time.

Any ideas?

Un plug the connector on top of the brake light switch, this above the brake pedal,,if the light goes out then the switch is faulty, they only cost £9

I'll try and get hold of a new switch. Although I think I'll need some one to fit it for more... its looks a little tricky to change..

Dead easy, either twist and turn or one 17mm nut.

Pleased you found it, when you pick up the new one, you will see how easy it is to fit

I've managed to get this fixed all by myself (well, with some help from here!)

The lights are now operating correctly so we have one happy Mercedes and one happy owner.
