Bridgestone or Continental? Decisions Decisions.....

My vote is for Conti 2s, just had all corners replaced

Would be interested to hear what the date of manufacture is on those?

4-digit code on the sidewall (usually part of the string after "DOT"). First 2 digits are 01-52 (week number), second 2 are the year. So 1408 would mean 14th week of 2008.

I had Conti 2's fitted on the rear a couple of months back, 265s, cost a bomb.

Again, if you get a few mins to look at the date code I'd be interested to know when they were manufactured.

I thought ContiSportContact 2 was discontinued some time ago. The "3" came out in early 2007.

So I would ask about the date codes (on the sidewall) if that's what you go for.

Continental have discontinued a number of SC's but still producing lots of sizes in the 2's.....like most tyre manufacturers they have commitments to the replacement market for OE...

Thanks for all the advice. I'm having Kumho Ecsta Ku31's fitted Saturday, £208 all in for all four. Will let you know how they go.;)

Dates of manufacture are as follows:
Front n/s 2008, Front o/s 3508, Both Rears 2808.

Michelin Primacys here, too. Great tyres. Also had Kuhmos on previous cars, they were actually surprisingly good.

I can recommend Kumho Ecsta Ku31's, its a very good budget tyre and I don't think Kumho tyres are that bad as they are fitted as standard on some A-classes

Thousand miles in and they're pretty decent. Grip's not bad, a bit noisier that the michelins that came off but nothing outlandish. Overall very good for the money I'd say.

I use Michelin Pilot Primacy all round.

Costco has great discount if you are a member on regular basis with 25% off a set of 4. This brings Michelin cheaper than all the premium brands such as Continentals, Pirelli, Bridgestones, Goodyear, etc.

Have recently replaced Conti Sport 2s with Dunlop SP01s [235/45 r17] - so far very pleased and considerably quieter and more forgiving than the Contis. Good in wet too. Contis wore out very quickly without very heavy use, so am closely monitoring the Dunlops.

Were recommended by Micheldever Tyres....
