The RAC man has just left and the battery on my CLK430 is dead, not just flat but dead.

His battery tester gave it 2 red lights ! sob sob

IT seemed fine - but wouldn't start when I got back from holiday.

Anyone any idea where to get a new one other than the dealership - it is huge - and I am sure the price is too !!

you might want to look at this thread
dealerships may not be as expensive as you think :D

Hey, count yourself lucky it didnt explode as mine did!

Last year I had a battery plate collapse leaving the same totally u/s. The battery (still the original!) was a Varta 100AH.

MB stealership quoted £120 + VAT for a replacement. Phoned ATS and lo and behold they supplied exactly the same battery for £65 incl. VAT and a 5 year warranty (for what they may be worth). I cannot remember if it was on a special offer at the time, however, it may be worth just giving them a call to see what they have.

Good luck!

Hi

I paid £68.27 for the genuine MB 100Ah from MB Commercial. I will check epc for the battery listed for yours and report back.

The battery you need for yours is A 005 541 21 01 100Ah this is the same one i got for my 98 E300TD Estate same as vito van etc etc.

Good luck
