Can anyone suggest or recommend a door entry system that can be controled via your desktop PC's (IPv4 LAN) ......So visitor presses door bell, a window pops up, with video feed from external camera...operators have the option to speak or remote release door.......

I'm sure there are cheaper sollutions.

I've been looking at X10 automation at home and this uses your standard ring mains or wireless. It has add ons to control via a PC or even your smart phone.

I have been looking into door access systems for a few weeks for a client, and it has been a nightmare.

I've found systems that will do what we need. But can't find installers who know the system. Our Electrician and Telephone engineers have also been passing it back to each other.

I've met two alarm suppliers today, who also deal with door access, and to them it was straightfoward.

If it's a workplace you need an emergency release, and it should be hooked up any fire alarm also.

If you have a SIP client on the PC (there are many free ones available), there are Grandstream boxes that will do this.
