I have had my bulb failier warning light come on but there's no failed bulb and its on even when when lights are turned off. Any help would be appreciated. Tony.

I had this on my W211 indicating a numberplate light out. Checked it and all working oK. Continued for several days and started to get annoyed. Then one of the numberpate bulbs blew a few days later!

The warning systems measure resistance in the circuit. A bad connection or a bulb about to burn out would create more resistance and trigger a warning. A bit of WD40 and a wiggle might find the offending items?

The warning lamp is on though even when the lights are turned off. ill take them all out and put back in again. that sorted it last time, cheers, T.

As Vilus says, I had this with a Trailer bulb being reported which cleared after clearing it in dash, couple of weeks later the bulb was out, its quite clever that it reports before bulb even blows , gives you a chance to get a spare ready

as i said should the warning lamp be on even when the lights are turned off ???.cheers.

Cheers Ted. Why the heck didn't think of that durrrrrrrrr

I think what happens is:- you unlock door, car unlocks doors , turns on side lights, realises it daylight so turns lights off

Your original question, of why you get a bulb failure when no lights are turned on...... one is starting to go and will fail soon
