Button poised to switch to McLaren..

Hamilton will be a phenomenon and a name that's revered in future years like Senna, Schumacher etc. However he's lacking the maturity, this year will have knocked some into him I'm sure.

Button and Hamilton will be interesting if that's how it plays out. Of course what would be more fun would be for Mercedes to pursuade Michael and Ralf out of retirement...

Agreed, Hamilton will be remembered as one of the true greats, unfortunately though, Jenson Button will not, its like comparing Michael Schumacher to Damon Hill, both worthy World Champions, but in a different league to each other.

Yes.

Schumacher crashed into Hill, crashed into Villenueve, and parked his car at Monaco. And one might presume that he was contractually assured of a patsy for a team mate.

Great driver. But tainted World Champion.

Hill on the other hand had one world championship stolen.

So yes. Leagues apart. Hill gets my admiration and respect. Schumacher gets my admiration.

How do I go about placing a bet on the outcome of the first race of the 2010 season?

Call into any betting shop?

Ladbrokes or William hill will have advanced sports betting, you'll need to be pretty specific to get any decent (long) odds. Expect them to absorb the bet and call you back with an offer though.

Phone them up though, don't bother with a shop.

More chatter on the Merry go round...

snippty snip:-

“We’ve had discussions with Jenson over what we think is a sensible salary and this deal is not going to change anything in that respect,” said chief executive Nick Fry, who together with other senior Brawn management such as team principal Ross Brawn, will stay at Brackley for the foreseeable future.
“I hope Jenson will be with us as we’ve been together for a good few years, but F1 is not divorced from the rest of the world. The reason we’ve survived as a team is that we have operated in our means.”
Button is now weighing up a reported £8 million deal, roughly twice as much as Brawn’s offer, to join his predecessor as world champion, Lewis Hamilton, at McLaren.

I may be adding 2 and 2 here and getting 7 but reading between the lines it looks like Brawn are saying, thanks for a great season sunshine, see ya later.

If the £8 Million offer at Mclaren is real He'd be mad not to take it. With a new car for next season He'll be on a level playing field with the prodigy.

As for Mclaren, you could be getting Button, current world champion and points scorer in every race bar 1 last season for £8 large, or Kimi Cornetto for about 5 times as much......errr....no need for any ice cream at Woking then?

That's what I was looking for, thanks Mudster.

Never placed a bet before - not even the grand national - if the National Lottery and a stag night at the dog track is excluded. I wasn't sure if walking into a betting office was the way to place this sort of bet.
