They might argue also that the price cars are advertised for is not usually what they sell for.....no one pays screen price on a used car....private or retail.....but argue back that the price for used cars is a strong as it's ever been ......although there is a definite downward trend now (best not mention that last bit!).

I can also show them email conversations with 3 sellers in the last few days where I’ve made offers or discussed prices and they won’t negotiate. This might seem unusual, but they are all very aware that everything is selling. Especially if there isn’t many of that vehicle available and it’s in good condition.

Plus, the amount the insurer wants to give me isn’t a little bit off buying the same vehicle. It’s off by a huge amount. Nearly 50% away from what I need to replace it like for like.
