I still haven't found the car I want. I've seen a few C class mercs now and wondered what the differences are, other than size between the C and E class estates.

The E is in a different class (excuse the pun). I tried 4 205 Cs and just couldn't get excited about them at all, then test drove one E and, even though it is the 2015 model, rather than the current one, it is so much more accomplished I didn't hesitate. Picked it up a week ago and not a smidge of a regret in going for the boxier older E as opposed to the newer curvier C. Having said that, try both and go with what floats your own boat!

I tested an E class and I really liked it, but I've seen a C class with lower mileage so wondered if they are comparable.

I guess I'll just have to test a C and take it from there.

Obviously always down to personal preference, but I'll be interested to hear your thoughts after you've tried both.

In a nutshell, the C-Class is comparable with the BMW 3-Series and the Audi A4.

The E-Class is comparable with the BMW 5-Series and the Audi A6.

The E-Class is physically bigger and heavier than the the C-Class, and will have higher trim level (i.e. it will have features as standard that are optional extras on the C-Class).

But it will also be more expensive, so the choice is usually (for the same money) between a bigger and more luxurious but slightly older E-Class, or a newer albeit smaller and more basic C-Class.

I personally prefer the C-Class (I am on my second one now), but as others said you'll need to try both and make up your mind.

I've had 2 c class saloons and recently changed to an e class coupe.

I much prefer the e class but changing from a saloon to a coupe doesn't really make it a fair comparison.

Loved both c's though, great cars.

I believe that the E-Class Coupe is based on the C-Class floor-pan and underpinning? If so then there would not be that much of a difference between driving a E-Class Coupe and a C-Class Coupe?

Depends on what generation of car you're looking at. All new C's and E's are the same platform

All I know is I like it more than the c's I've owned and I've never owned or driven a c coupe.
