C Class Cabriolet roof marks

so those marks look mainly to be created in the roof material sitting between the roof frame; you can see the roof structure lines and when the roof is opened it folds in a way that I think creates the blotches; have got similar on my roof and I believe they are simply a product of age and likely to be the colour wearing different as time goes by. They do seem to show up more on your red roof material.

So yes, a full clean and recolouring may be the solution.

My roof shows similar lines and blotches , but lighter. Am going to give mine a full clean after a long summer of use, before going for a recolour.
Appreciate the response i was just worried it was damage caused by a pressure washer but the marks seem stubborn to get so i’ll most likely do another two deep cleans before re colouring just hope the dark red (maroon) dye i buy is similar as it’s quite difficult to find the right colour for mine.

Your’s isn’t too bad compared to mine but looks really nice goes well with the body colour!

Pressure washer damage is usually micro tears, like tiny cuts in the fibres.

Has the roof ever been sealed with a water repellent? It looks like the roof has got very wet, and stayed very wet without drying out to me, and maybe there’s some “growth” of some sort deeper in the fabric.

No it hasn’t been sealed with a water repellent past few years, hmm you may be spot on there with the roof not fully drying out and potentially some growth- any advice for anything i could try on this?

Sorry I can’t offer anything too helpful. For some reason red roofs don’t repell water as well as other colours even with repellant, and I - and the detailers I know - don’t know why.

Where abouts in the country are you?

Edited to add: I see you’re in Leicester. Have you tried calling Topaz Midlands? I have never used them but friends who buy cars from Lamborghini Leicester use them and speak highly of them.

No worries yeah really strange how they’ve appeared in the past 6 months.

As an owner of Five convertible vehicles over the last eight years, I have had three mohair/cloth hoods. The thing about APC, is that it is relatively expensive compared to household cleaning products. I bought 5 L of CIF and you can really dilute it a lot and it does not seem to mark fabric at all. I have used it on a black hood and, all of my car, mats and carpets. if you use as directed and don’t get the results you want, you can always make it stronger so far with a bit of elbow grease it foams up nicely.
