Guys,

I am in need of some new front wings for my 124 Coupe. Obvious options are pattern wings from EuroParts/GSF, and the associated pros and cons. Does anyone have any experience of these? Fitment, quality...etc

Genuine wings from Merc - £££

Does anyone have any other sources that constitute value for money with decent quality?

Let me know your thoughts..

Thanks in advance.

A lot of people use Hadrian panels for 124's , they have a good reputation.

Are these hadrian parts any good? I dont want to invest in bodywork/paint etc, only to find wings rusting again in 6-12 months...

No , i told you about them because they are crap

I have used Hadrians Panels in the past on not only my car but customers cars(with the customers consent). So far after three years of heavy use (on my E220) I do not see any rust forming. The fit is quite good too, but that is mainly down to whoever fits them. A little fettling is needed I must admit, but there again the same applies to Genuine parts. Ask my paint man who had a nightmare fitting one recently.

Ian - great, thank you. Sounds like these may be the best bet for wing replacements. Thanks all. If anyone has any other alternatives please feel free to comment. But great feedback so far..

Is it best to just phone these guys up? the website im on doesnt seem to list the part I require!

Thanks

I know someone who has a pair of used ones but rustfree. He was keeping them for me but I no longer need them so I can ask if you like

Hi

Mrs 230k could be interested in these.

I have a question. Assuming that all the "Mercedes made " panels stopped some time ago and stocks of original spares have now been depleted, who now makes the MB replacement parts? Do Mercedes retain the dies to stamp out limited runs of parts now and again? Did they sell them on to third parties [ with an exclusive "duty to supply" proviso] to make pattern parts? Do they specify higher quality metal [ thicker gauge], better fettled, better finished replacement parts from these suppliers now for their MB branded parts? I suspect that surely there may be only a few 1 or 2 companies in Europe actually making these replacement parts now. They may produce different grades of panel or simply separate them into different grades by quality control post production before selling them on to suppliers. I'd love to know the inside story.

I had my W124 at Ian Walker's recently for some bits and pieces, including bodywork.

His paint man replaced both front wings. From memory one wing was Hadrian and the other was some other non MB panel - this is the 24v diesel with vents on one wing so they are different.

Anyway, the fit and finish doesn't look any different to the originals to me. And painted outside and Bilt-Hamber'd inside, I don't see why rust should be any more of an issue than with MB panels.

Sweet - sounds like everyone has good things to say about hadrian panels. I will give them a call. Thanks guys.

Rob, you mention "Bilt-Hamber'd" ..what is this? And is their any other preparation that is good practice to avoid rust?

Thanks

If you search on here for Bilt-Hamber, you'll find lots on it. Essentially, it's a bit like Waxoil but better.

I've got a pair of genuine MB wings here that I've been hoarding for a while. Was going to use them on my 300TE but I'm not sure it's worth it :o

Dash was thinking of having them but he's sorted now I think. Maybe PM me if you are interested?

Will

Thanks Guys - Will have sent you a PM
