Having totally stolen this idea from another poster I just wanted to ask what sort of MPG does anyone get out of the above. Trying to drive frugally but only returning 34MPG.

Anyone else have one? And if so whats the performance?

Cheers

I had a "59" plate one of these for about a year - Auto and used to average around 30mpg so you're about spot on.

Goddamn it. Best I have had is 36.4

wish they would just publish accurate figures instead of "lab" numbers

Well me either right now! Its early days like and I wasnt "gentle" in my last car. While I am not smashing my foot down maybe my driving style isn't adjusted.......

Or its thirsty....

I have a 2011 pre facelift. Around town I get 34 mpg but most of my journeys are long distance motorway and I see 38 -40 mpg regularly.

My driving is a 40 mile commute round trip, 3-4 days a week and some round the doors, think I have managed to get myself up to 34.7 this AM so thinking I have cracked it. What would a full tank return you Joe??

I fail to see the Effeciency part of the badge?

I get that easily out of a 3.2Cdi ?

It's why I went with a C220cdi second time around. However, if you;re buying used, say 12 -18 months old there is a massive difference in price between a C200/C220 deisel and a C180 petrol - as much as £5,000.

At 10mpg difference that's a hell of a lot of fuel to regain £5000 or so.

^ thats a very valid point.

I have freinds who have swapped cars to buy a diesal and save a fortune in fuel....however what they fail to grasp is..

Selling and buying another more exspensive car you are only losing money. Yes you notice the saving at the pumps but eveyday the new car is probably losing way more that the saving in depreciation.

I'm really not sure what I will swap my current car for, now I see 40mpg without worry and it has the performance of a hot hatch its going to be hard going back to even 30mpg.

Anyway as I sit here now I can look out of the window and see my car all nice and clean ready to go out soon, and it really does look nice.

Your not wrong Red! however I do have the pre facelift model as well, there was too much of a price gap for me to consider diesel, especially only doing 10-11k per year, you have to look at 16+ before returns match difference in cost.

A210, after getting 30 MPG in my 1.8 Astra Convertible prior to this alomst getting 35MPG in a much nicer car is worth it.

I did drive from Surrey to Edinburgh in our C180K over Christmas 2010 when it was really snowy.

Apart from being the only time I've been genuinely scared driving (a white out on the M6) the car returned 44mpg for that trip.

In reality an E250cdi Sport Estate is the closest to what you have now.

The E350 with 265hp is lovely, but it seems to be quite thirsty reading what members here are getting.

Yeah, thats one thing that will take a bit of getting used to, havent had rear wheel since my Smart Roadster, but always had FWD in the snow.

Sounds like a good return, quite a drive that one!

I think Joe has a later model with a slightly different engine.

I think mine is the turbo, not kompressor, it was registered in Jan 2011. I will measure the next tank brim to brim, I tend not to watch the too much as I have a fuel card.

This I can believe, when I drive from Wokingham to Nottingham I get 40mpg without trying.

Aye fairplay may be down to the supercharger/turbo difference.

Still when I have booted it its like S*** off a shiny shovel (for a 1.6)

Would be good to know what you get!

I got the Manual Box, i know Mercs are traditionally Auto cars but i prefer a Manual.

The MPG is not quite as good as I thought, brim to brim the last tank is 37.9mpg. I still think this is an impressive improvement over my old W202 C200, I could never get much more than 30mpg from that.
