C180 petrol courtesy car just 27mpg?

One can. One drove one's friend S350 today some very long miles on the Autobahn outside Munich after one convinced one's friend to fill up with Shell V-Power Diesel (€1.70 instead on €1.40 for the standard stuff). One might add that one was not paying for the fuel... :)

How was the car, they are really comfy. What MPG did it get for the speed. Do a thread about it, you know, one about cars:D

By law, speedometers have a tolerance of 0+ 10%, to give drivers an additional margin of error. Yours appears to be set to 05 over-read.

Bueno amigo!

About ~130KPh

:D

Wasted opertunity my friend...

The A8 nr Munich allows this

About 240kph. The car averaged 30mpg (assuming an over read of 10% which the OBC did when I brimmed it).

A bit better than 27mpg and I proper blasted it from Salzburg to Munich.

The owner was sitting behind me in car.... :o

I did go up to 140KPh at one point though

In an s you don't feel the speed, you could have got away with 200kph at least!

I spent about £20 to drive around Perthshire. Or was it £25, I did buy some food at the Tesco petrol station.

Ucht who cares, a day out for £20-£25. I ain't complaining.

That's not bad for 1/2 a day's activity. People spend more on football, golf etc. IMHO it's only because many people remember when fuel was very cheap that today it seems expensive.

Just drove to get an ice cream and pop in B&Q. B class petrol with full family onboard, push chair etc and I thought ooooo I wonder what MPG I have averaged...

I wasn't even driving carefully!

That solves it :thumb:. I've been trying to decide on a route down to Italy next year. A8 here I come :D

I am a bit OCD on MPG and have only used one tank of fuel in my new C180 auto.

First if all, this is a 1.6l engine, not 1.8 as someone posted on page 2.

I am coming from a 318 BMW that consistently put out 33MPG on mostly town trips. The on board computer was very good at calculating true MPG and matched my own calculations.

I have been driving my new C Class on Eco gears, not much Air Con, and with annoying StopStart switched off. Driving for economy it returned only 30mpg, which disappointed me to be honest.

In about every respect I prefer this engine to the 2litre in the 318, but it is clearly going to be thirstier, and driving normally with a mix of frugal and fun is obviously going to be well under 30mpg.

Personally I can live with that because as a package this car beats my outgoing 318, but I can't say I'm not disappointed with the economy.

I would be dissapointed with that too. Like above I can manage near 38mpg without trying!

Sorry I am not up on engine classifications yet, what model are you driving?
