C180k Coupe Door Lock Problem, Help!

Hey Guys, Im new to the forum and would like some help please.

When I press the remote fob the driver door lock pops up but the when i pull the door handle sometimes it doesnt open, when i pull it again it occasionally opens but it can take up to six pulls of the handle for it to open?

I stood beside the car and repeatedly pressed open on the remote and after a few times the lock goes down and pops back up and thats when the handle opens the door first time.

Ive been through the forums and cant find anything like this, so any help would be great, Thanks

Hi, sounds like a similar problem on my c class W203, and l had to replace the electric door lock mechanism. Apparently its not uncommon for these to fail. Did it myself, if you search the forum l'm sure there is a posting showing how its done. Window has to be removed to get at it. Hope this helps.

I used a Haynes manual for c class W203 range as a guide to do the job, it was very useful.

My '02 SL has the exact same problem. It's just a bit stuck but very annoying. I put up with it for 2 months before I decided on getting it fixed. My sisters A Class had something similar and I followed what she did. She called up a local locksmiths Thamesmead to get the job done without bring it into a dealership. They did a good job so I decided to get mine done via the locksmith too. Turns out the clog wasn't grinding properly due to wear and tear so just a bit of handy work by adding teeth to the clogs put it in place - either that or buy new clogs. Of course I went for the cheaper option. But hope this technique will last. Been going strong now for 2.5 months and for my sisters A Class 4 months now.
