C180k dropped out of gear

Coming home from work tonight, my C180k auto (2003) inexplicably lost drive. There was a clunk and then it was as if I was in neutral even though the lever was still in drive. I pulled over, switched off and on again and then it was fine.

Any suggestions about what might cause this please?

Weird, I'd take it to a decent MB specialist to look at it.

Low on gearbox oil I suspect. They are quite common to leak but it is an easy fix.
