Hi,

Could anyone please tell me what this means on my display? It only appears when I drive off, pressing OK removes it until next time I restart.

I've had a look through my owners manual but can't seem to find it.

Many Thanks

It maybe the rear passenger seat belt warning. Try doing it with just one rear passenger with their seat belt on. Then one of the seats on your display should be shown with seat belt on.

Handy for the driver to know if their little ones are nice and safe without having to ask at the onset of every journey.

Keep us posted.

Ant.

Thanks for the quick replies, just to add.

I've never had anybody in the rear seats and comes on with just me in the car.

So after reading the link above, it just comes on anyhow, not connected to having people in rear seats.

Every day's a school day with a new car.

Thanks .

Letter to my seat belts?? Don't be absurd. I just talk to them. Much less formal.

Dear seat belts.

Please keep me safe. I know I've put on weight lately and your job is going to be much harder from now on but I'll try my best to breathe in on longer journeys.

In return for your hard work I'll make sure I never trap your head in the car door ever again. I know last time was especially painful for you and you spent the whole weekend hanging out of the door sill. Please forgive me

Your caring owner, Mark. :bannana:

I've always wondered what this meant on mine also, it's annoying and distracting as I rarely have anyone in the back apart from mini in his child seat. I only notice it as I'm turning the wheel too! Fiddling about with the wheel to find the OK button

If you need any time to find the OK button, you should leave it. The message probably goes away just when you do find the button, so why bother.

Do you find the alert masking something very important information that you would need during the first seconds of your trip?

I understand the message could be very distracting for those who have not figured out what it stands for (who have not read the manual).

Haven't read the manual in depth, but I'll make sure next time I need the bathroom longer than one minute to take it with me for a read. To save waiting till someone else asks, as I clearly must be one of the minute few of the population thinking the same thing :thumb:

If you have to question what a message is on your dash board...it's badly designed.

Messages should be clear and unambiguous and not require wading through the manual (which is something an owner might do, but not a hirer or borrower).

It goes off after a short period of time so shouldn't be a problem.

This basically means that the back seats dont have the seat belts put in. Doesent matter if someones sitting there or not it still displays and disappears after few seconds of driving, or you can press OK button on steering. Such a useless display tbh, however slightly handly when your driving and someone takes off their belt and you've gotta tell em to put it back on.

Mine doesn't show at all if no one is sat in the rear seat.

Strange you say it's 'useless' then go on to say it's 'Handy'.:dk:

I think it's a great idea for little ones in the back of the car. Saves you having to ask 'seat belts on?' At the beginning of every journey.

This is why I was originally wondering why it always popped up when I very rarely have anyone in the rear of mine. Strange function!

Thought maybe it might be some fancy function where it senses weight on the seat and warned you of a belt not plugged in where he weight is :)

On lower-end cars, the pressure sensor mat is only incorporated into the front passenger seat, to save cost.

The rear seat only has belt sensors which tell the driver which seatbelts are not buckled-in.

I would have found this feature very handy, by the way. My W203 does not have it, so before driving-off I need to remember to turn back and check that the kids are properly strapped in. Would have been nice to be able to tell that from the dash display.

In other cars I used to leave all the belts plugged in at the rear, after an MOT once where they left them plugged in I couldn't be bothered to unclip them. May just leave them clipped in, this shouldn't affect the future safety on them should it, leaving them permanently clicked in?
