C205 - Help - Grinding from right rear wheel. Louder when accelerating? (See/listen to video in thread for more context).

I have a 2017 Mercedes-Benz C220d Coupe (C205). Recently, it has developed a grinding noise coming from the right rear wheel. The noise is constant, but when I press the accelerator pedal, it gets louder, and it immediately quiets down when I release the pedal.

It's worth noting that the grinding noise persists even when I'm not pressing the accelerator, but it becomes quieter the moment I release the pedal.

To provide more context, I have recorded a video where I alternately press and release the accelerator pedal, hoping that this will help diagnose the issue.

Initially, I suspected it might be a brake issue. The car has just been serviced, and all the brakes were replaced. However, the noise is still present. The service center that performed the maintenance and brake replacement didn't have the time to identify the root cause of the problem.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be based on the video and the description?

Ideally it needs to go on a ramp / jack and the wheels turned to see if its from the wheels or not.

If its a grating / grinding noise on acceleration could it be the infamous steering rubber gaiter thats faulty. Can cause excessive engine noise coming into the cabin and gets worse on acceleration only

During the service, they examined the issue but couldn't precisely identify its root cause. Nevertheless, they did observe uneven brake wear on that wheel and suspected that whatever the problem might be, it could have played a role in causing the uneven brake wear.

I'd look at the wheel bearing first and if all OK there, suspension and diff bushes - particularly the ones that control drive thrust/torque reaction.

I did resolve it, yes.

It turned out to be my rear differential.
Ordered one from Poland and replaced the defect one. No problems or noises anymore
