My C220CDI was purchased in March 2002. Recently I started hearing noise (like loose wheels) from the front. Took the car in to the Mercedes Garage in Warrington and they idendified the noise straight away and told me it was coming from the Anti Roll bar drop links which have to be renewed. This apparently is a common problem (must be poor design) and there is worldwide shortage of the modified replacement parts. The sevice manager also told me the problem is caused by the road humps although I go over them slowly and carefully. The Mercedes Garage asked me to ring in about two weeks to see if they have the parts in stock. Any body else had the same problems?

By the way any body come across a workshop manual for the new C class models?

Very common. As you have said the part has been modified.

I'ts nothing to worry about just annoying.

A couple of days ago I looked at a VW Sharan with the same problem which had already had two visits to the garage unsolved. Odly enough the links were back ordered for that too.

Quick test: Grab the roof gutter and rock the car side to side violently. You will hear the noise inside the car.

That would be the wife
:D , sorry couldnt resist that

Never had such problems before with my previous cars. I still have my 7 and half years old Renault Laguna Executive purchased from new which has not given any problems.
The only work done is the routine 10000 miles service. I expected Mecedes-Benz to be much superior.

I heard the same noise in my 2003 c220 cdi sport coupe some time ago, and it only have 16000 miles.
When I went to do my first service A at MB, I tell the problem and the only thing they do was tight the all suspension front and rear, and after that it have more precise cornering and no noises, but now I'm hearing more noises again...

Does my 2003 have the old parts???

If it the same noise (prominent when you go over potholes and rough surface) then you need to renew the Anti Role Bar Drop Links MB part number A203 320 2889. If your car is purchased in UK MB dealer then it should be covered under the 3 years warranty. Even if it is a import car (normally 1 year warranty only) they should do the job free of charge if you mileage is low. I imported my car through MB Germany and got the parts replaced in August free of charge. No more noises. I am now extremly careful when I go over speed humps. I have been informed that the parts have not been modified therefore may wear out again after two years if you go over the humps without really slowing down to 20 MPH or below. Contact me directly if you need further help at [email protected].

I'm from portugal, and I bougyh my car in germany with one year and one day years old, so I have until aphril and more 6 months (international warranty) to reclaim my rigth.

So, you say that, in 2003 the parts where the same... hum!!!

thanks
