hi all i have been having starting problems with my 220cdi it fires up and then cuts out, then eventualy starts after numerous trys.i have found a fuel leak so i think this maybe the fault.the leak is on the union on the pre-delivery fuel pump.does anyone know how to fix please.

Give it a good clean then run it to check exactly where the leak is coming from. If its out of the pipe seal then this can be relaced on its own and available from MB for pence.
If its the pipe itself you wil need a new one. The pipe will have new seals already fitted

i fitted new seals (£2.16 for 2) and the leak is cured, but i have air in the system and couldnt start it,rang mb and they said just keep turning over and eventually it will fire up,it did but still takes a lot of turning before it starts even after a short run, does anyone know how to bleed the fuel system.

I doubt it, it sounds like you have an air leak or worn injectors.

Take it for a fifteen minute drive before you start thinking about any other issues.

it started fine before the leak, thats why i thought it is air in system.

Take it for a run and let it bleed through properly is what I'm saying. Sometimes it's surprising they do need a wee run to bleed up nice.

just to let anyone know car is fine now.the air was getting in through the banjo union because i had not got the clips home sucurely,so was a cheap fix in the end
