Hi, i have a 202 c230k drift car, I have run this on track and as my daily for the last year with no problems, yesterday whilst on track my Supercharger stopped working, and it looks like the clutch on it has gone. I don't know much about superchargers so my question may seem stupid to some, apology's. To stop this happening again, as my car is driven very hard, is there any way i can replace the clutch system with a solid pulley? I appreciate there are lots of pulley based threads already and I have trawled through them long and hard to see if there is already a definitive answer but cannot find one. Any help or advice would be gratefully received. Many thanks

First of all you really need to establish exactly why the S/c pulley has disengaged. Could be a few reasons besides the clutch or the electromagnetic unit be faulty.

As for having a permanently locked S/c pulley, I don't see any reason why not. But and I'm guessing here you'd need to fool the ECU by a bit of clever wiring to the S/c electromagnetic clutch. If you pull the front cover off the pulley, you'll find shims behind, remove all the shims and replace the cover, the clutch should be fully locked - that's what I've been informed when I made inquiries on the same subject.

As, I said at the start establish first why it's not engaging.

I know i am going to sound foolish, but, whats the best way to work out why its not engaging? If it helps, when i disconnect the battery, and reconnect, i get the charger back for about 10 seconds then it goes again. Also after having a massive blowout last time i ripped the pipes out of the wheel well for the charcoal canister that go to the purge valve, so i have disconnected that, although doesn't seem to of made any difference and did manage 5 sessions on track before i had the issue

Get the Ecu codes read. Also check the live data while having the codes read. A simply thing like a faulty MAF could do it.

my car has no obd port or engine management light, will this be a job for mercedes to plug in? i cleaned maf with brake cleaner, i have to do this every month or so, so i guess it could of packed up

Yes, it does have a port. It's on the N/s in the engine bay at the bulkhead. Large round black plastic cover with a 10mm plastic nut inside it. It's OBD1, so no dash warning light.

Another thing to do, as suspect you cleaning the MAF due oil contamination, is clean out all the breathers and also (difficult to get at, need to remove the inlet manifold) the two breather pipes going into the Cyl head below the Inlet manifold. It splits in two just before connecting to the head, clean the junction valve and both the tiny brass connectors that are fitted to the head.

thanks for all your advice, i will give this all a go

It won't be the clutch that is faulty, most likely is the secondary air valve isn't moving properly.

Most people who run supercharged race cars run a solid pulley and no clutch it's dead easy to do and there is a thread on here from a guy who works for one of the motoring mags who did exactly this to his c230k it's prob about two years ago now

As others have said definitely won't be the clutch

Good luck
