My Merc C240 has developed a starting problem over night. When i try to start it in the morning, the starter solenoid just made a clicking noise. Ha Ha,, flat battery is the first thing that springs to mind, but battery charged, then replaced with new unit and still the same.
If the ignition key is held in the start position, the clicking noise can be herd every 3-4 sec until released.
Starter motor removed and tested....ok
All wiring and connections checked...ok
Starter relay tested....ok.
An MB mechanic tells me it is most lightly the circuit board which is under the starter relay, this will need to be replaced and the item re-programmed.
Can anyone confirm this and can the re-programming only be done by MB.
Thanks
