C250 CDi BE Auto vs E350CDi BE Auto

Beautiful car !

What made you choose the 250 over the 350, after previously running 2 x 320's ?
Any regrets not getting the bigger lump ???

Thanks!

I drove a demo E250cdi at the dealers (Hughes in Aylesbury) and found it quick, smooth and MPG/emissions were much better over the E350cdi.

Road tax on the E250 is £150 (159 g/km) and on the E350 it's £65 more (186 g/km).

BHP is 204bhp (this is what my 2003 E320cdi had) vs 231bhp. 0 to 60 takes 7.7s vs 6.8s. Max speed is 149 vs 155 and torque is 500Nm vs 540Nm. Numbers are not greatly different?

And I suppose I can always consider a re-map if I want more oomph!

The E250 costs a bit less but the E350 comes with a standard 7G auto box.

Time will tell. I do miss having two exhaust pipes sticking out of the back though!

Got the MPG wrong last night - actually did 34 mpg on it's first part tank (50 litres to cover 372 miles). My CLS could reach 40 mpg on a motorway run and same with the E320cdi.

My wife chose it! I did not want black leather and the almond or the beige did not really look good with a silver car. The dealer said quite a few had been ordered in the launch colour - cuprite brown.

Iridium silver is still the most popular colour followed by obsidian black. Am sure my last two cars (in silver) stayed/looked cleaner longer!

The spec of my E350cdi which comes tomorrow is Avantgarde in iridium silver with black leather , some easy pac options and audio 50 sat nav and some other bits .

Two weeks ago I changed my C 320CDi Elegance for an E350CDi Avantgarde saloon. Until I went to the dealer to collect my new car I had not seen any of the W212 models in the flesh, just on the internet and Mercedes brochures. One thing did bother me was all the fuss on this forum about the rear wings, and expected them to bulge out in some obscene fashion. As it turns out I cannot see what all the fuss was about. I actually had the car for a day before remembering about the comments made and realised I had not noticed anything odd about the design.

The E 350CDi Avantgarde is in Cuprite Brown with black leather and has the following extras and toys fitted:-
Airmatic
Memory package
Dynamic multi-contour seats
Driving assistance package
Tyre pressure monitoring
Omit model designation
Split folding rear seats
COMAND
Reversing camera
Logic 7.
Compared to the C class (which was good) the ride is like a feather bed without being wallowy? in bends. It is a bit early to say what options I really like and those I could have done without, but until you've tried them over a period it is hard to tell so I ticked the boxes of those I fancied.

So far I am really pleased with my choice and as good as the W204 was, it is nowhere near the W212 for ride, comfort and that general feel good factor.

I have had two minor problems, first I've had to get rid of lots of tools and a bench from the garage to cater for the extra length. Secondly I have to get out of the automatic movement of my left hand when wanting to select drive or reverse.

Pictures please, I'm really interested in the Cuprite Brown, I'm so fed up with blacks, silver and the varying shades of grey in between...I like in a Colored not monochrome world!

Even tempted by fire engine red just for a change.

Will take some photos soon, and then figure out how to post them on the forum.

I had the same idea as you Mudster, most of my previous cars were either silver or shades of grey. The Cuprite Brown looks different depending on the light shining on it, thankfully it does look quite classy in my eyes.

cuprite brown is the brochure main colour

Sounds like a lovley car! Both my cars go backwards and forward with the wave of my right forefinger, can't remember what I used to use my left arm for....;)
Even my wife who pronounced the gear shift ' designed by a man and counter intuative' now no longer gives it a second thought.
Interesting comments on the ride quality, I suspect the Avangarde is the right compromise between looks and comfort.:D
