Hello all,

I need to replace the glow plugs on my car, is there any preference on replacement brand??

Euro's have got either beru or desno, are either of them any good?

Is there any particular brand to avoid?

Many thanks

Jon

avoid NGK.

Bosch duraterms are very good

go for the BERU if you want, they should be fine. I used beru and they lasted a good while. The duraterms have been by far the best though. I give them a hard life as i run on WVO - beru lasted 8 months. duraterms about 16 months (one has failed in last week for the 1st time).

Thanks for the replies,

I'll see if i can find some bosch ones, if not i'll get the beru ones from euros!!

I hope they come out without snapping!!

Other than getting the engine hot and plenty of penetrating fluid, is there anything else that would help the removal of the old ones?

Many thanks

Jon

mine came out really easily - 194,000 miles on the clock. cold.

I hope mine do too, i've heard many horror stories of them snapping in the head though!!

Ah well, I can only give it a try!

Hello all,

Well, I tried to replace my glow plugs today, managed to do 1,3 and 4 without any problems, BUT 2 the nut is just spinning so that has been snapped and 5 is siezed solid, and I dont want to snap that one!

The plugs that were/are in there weren't all the same, so i'm assuming they are all different ages, and typically the one which is causing the glow plug light to stay on and rough starting is one of the stuck ones!!

Can anyone recommend someone in the Essex area who can get snapped and siezed glow plugs out?

Many thanks,

Jon
