OK. Is there an EASY way to test these things are working OK?

Also, can either fail intermittently?

If they fail I think is permanant not intermitant. I do not know of any way to test them either.

I have never known one to fail intermitantly.

Or just apply 12v to the electrical connector and watch the turbo actuator, it's only a servo solenoid valve.

Mine has two. Dunno if yours does, but if it does, swapping them over is the easy test.

How easy is that?

Whats the other one used for? What am I potentially causing to not work by swapping them?

How easy is it to swap? Pics ?

Very easy. No tools required. And you won't break anything by swapping them, they're identical part numbers (printed on top)

One is for the Turbo and the other for the EGR valve.

One is for the Turbo and the other for the EGR valve.

So if I take the (potentially) screwed one off the turbo and stick it on the EGR (and vice versa), I might end up with the one on the turbo working but the one on the EGR not.

What would be the outcome of that? i.e. EGR valve not working properly...

Given that there is no MAF to detect airflow maybe nothing, otherwise it will go into limp home after about 5 mins driving.
Err, limp home drops the turbo so might be the problem all along.

edit: definately the 250 doesn't monitor EGR operation so it should be Ok.

OK. So why is there one on the EGR valve then? does it do anything?

Found these ?

The bottom pic is the one for the Turbo. Other for the EGR

err sorry I might be wrong about the top pic. I don't think its the EGR one

On my 1998 C250TD the valve next to the heater duovalve works the EGR valve, and the one below the airfilter box (ish) works the turbo.

My mum has a C250td and I am going to see her later. I will have a look for you and see if I can find the EGR one.
