Just recently when trying to start my cdi270 ive had to pump the gas it then starts after 30 secs? its an 02 model and had a recent service i did have egr problems recently but did the delete and all seemed good for a few months. Whats likely to be the problem is it a fueling issue?

More than likely air in fuel lines. The o-rings perish over time and allow air into pipes when the vehicle has been stood.

So a new fuel line required? or can i just change the rings? it easy enough to do?

I gave mine to an indie to do as I needed it done ASAP. From what other members have posted on the subject it's a fairly straight forward job. Once the experts on here see your thread they will be more help with the DIY side of it.

As for the fuel lines you can buy lines and rings as a set but obviously this will cost more money. You could buy the rings on their own but the fuel lines go brittle over time and you COULD end up splitting or rupturing 1 whilst repairing.

Sorry I can't be more definitive but as I can't see your car I can't suggest which option is best for you. If your not 100% confident take it to a local merc indie. They probably do these all the time so they will keep the cost as low as possible for you. Like when I had mine done my fuel lines were ok so they only replaced the rings. If you search my threads you will find all the info regarding price etc

You can just buy the O rings from MB for a few pence each.

However the problem comes when you try and remove the lines, with age and the amount of heat cycles the black plastic clips have been through they can get brittle and snap.

IMO you may as well just buy replacement pipes (they come complete with new O rings etc) and do the lot in one go along with a new fuel filter......then they should be good for another 10+ years.

IIRC when I did mine on my 220 CDI the lines came in at just shy of £70 from the stealers for the complete set.

Agree. I had this problem earlier this year....thought I could cut costs by just changing the O rings but managed to damage one of the pipes so ended up having to go back to the dealers to get a replacement.

You may be lucky in replacing the seals but if I was in the same situation again I would buy the pipes (when I bought the O rings the parts manager told me I would be better off buying the pipes....I should have listened to him as would have saved me a return journey!)

Buy the pipes instead of the rings> much better option. It could be other things causing the probelm also. Leaking HP pump is possible. Injectors leaking off too much too.

Should i be able to see air in the pipes if its getting in is it just the lines from pump to filter then to fuel rail?

No I dont think you will be able to see the air in the fuel lines.

Yes it is the fuel lines from filter to injectors.

Cold start

Hi I had a problem with cold start on c270 cdi,
My problem was injector fuel rail seals needed
Replacing had them done car starts first turn
of the key instead of 6-7 turns

Ive ordered a fault code reader i appreciate this wont tell me the source of the fault but i think it will clarify a problem in the area i guess i wont no if its fuel rail seals or fuel line seals till i take them off ill start with the line as it started after i had the filter changed which leads me to believe it was caused by disturbing this, is the fuel easy enough to bleed back through? anyone had prblems with that after?

You rarely get codes with this type of fault.
