Hi I am new Here and have just purchased a new toy :thumb:
C320 coupe on a 53 plate its sweet I love it.

My question is I would like to treat it now to a new set of tyres being in to motorcycle's tyres are all important to me.

The sizes that are on at the moment are
Rear 255/35/R18 90W
Front 225/40Z/R18 (92Y)

Now do I stick with the above or can you recommend a better combination ?
This all new to me so any advice would be most welcome cheers Gaz

Welcome!

Looks like you have mix of different types fitted? You have two different speed ratings and two different load ratings?

If you try a search on the forum you will see many threads asking about tyres and many, many differing opinions!

Personally I have Michelin Primacy fitted to my C320 saloon and they are very good, grip is excellent, they are quiet and perform well in dry or wet conditions.

I have previous experience of Hankook tyres on a Saab 9-5 3 litre turbo and they were also very good. Have also had good experiences with Falken as a brand.

Any of the major branded tyres will perform well, remember that all tyres now have published ratings for noise, wet weather grip etc to allow you to make an informed decision.

Enjoy the car! :)

Yes I there wider on the rear to, I was not sure if this was ok or should I have the same width all round? what do think I also have Pirelli on the rear and some weird brand on the front.
I prefer the same brand all round.
I do have a slight noise at around 15mph I can hear some thing from the front end its not a bearing noise sounds like tyre noise its certainly not mechanical its had new discs and pads sounds like a rubbing pad noise.
the O/S/R Tyre squeak's as it rotates at around 5mph.
To be honest the tyres have seen better days I recon.

I was not referring to the different sizes, a staggered set-up is quite common, I was referring to your tyres having Y and W ratings, i.e. different speed ratings and differing load ratings of 90 and 92.

What do you mean by a "weird brand" at the front?

If all tyres are nearing the end of their service life then just get a quote for replacing all 4 and check your handbook for the recommended types.

As long as the tires on each axle are the same size, ie front left and front right are the same, your ok in terms of legality. So, wider wheels on the back are fine, wider wheels on the front are legally fine too, although might make the handling a bit naff. Oh and try putting some air in your squeaky tire!

DSM I understand what you where saying thank you about the ratings they are different I thought that was strange to,
and Mick That's the first thing I did and it was spot on 2 bar. tred depth down to the 2mm markers on the rear.
The front tyres as a brand unknown to me I will have a look in the morning probably cheap and cheerful. regards Gaz

Is this size combination good or do other owners prefer different should I stick with these or can you recommend another or better combo?

Rear 255/35/R18
Front 225/40Z/R18

I just found the sticky regarding my question derrrrrr great forum been reading for hours mine field of information.

I found that I have run flat tyres fitted hence the road noise at speeds below 20mph there is a distinctive noise from the front wheels. and there on the 2mm markers time to fit new.
