I have just bought a C36 AMG and do not have a manual. I went to put some petrol in and it as unleaded super plus and unleaded premium on the door. Which one should I use. If I use just standard unleaded, will it cause a problem?

I also need to change the bulbs behind the climate control(No lights on CC)

Does anyone know an easy way of doing it.

welcome to the world of the c36!

ok, i can help with the petrol, super unleaded should be the norm, but you can use normal unleaded every now and then as long as you dont drive it hard.

as far as the climate, i assume radio will come out and the bulbs will be on the back somewhere? anyone else help

Climate came out using radio removal things. There is a hole on each side of climate, bulb is underneath so was an easy fix. Thanks for info though.

Not sure on the climate control but regarding the fuel the additional manual that comes with the C36 states it should run on 98 RON fuel whereas Super Unleaded is 97 RON, then I would imagine closer to the 98 RON the better. It was rumoured that Shell optimax often exceeds the 97 RON and can be anything upto 100 RON. The manual does say that the car can run on lower grade fuels but the performance and economy may suffer.

I have had discussions with an airforce engineer and also a MB/BMW mechanic who owns both types of cars on this topic of petrol types. Both recommend only using the premium high RON types and the mechanic personally uses Shell Optimax and so do I in my 1996 C220. For your C36 AMG! don't skimp, use nothing less cos you've opted for a wonderful machine, use it! (If in emergency yes you can safely use the lower basic unleaded but don't push the car). In Sydney there are pretty low RON unleadeds - the basic unleaded is as low as 95 RON which I avoid. In London I remember all unleadeds were 'premium' types (the green coloured handles) in most stations (hence such high prices too!)

Standard unleaded is 95 ron here too in the UK
