as described, Brand new, two tone leather with enbossed "C36", will only fit prefacelift w202`s, bought for mine but I have facelift (DOH). £40

looking at the switches and steering wheel, they are from facelift model, so no, im afraid it wont fit yours.

****! where did you get the knob from BTW, the dealers? Mine's a bit scruffy which is why I changed it to the current carbon one I'm using but would like a nice new C36 one.

What's the difference then?
I have sold the same gear knobs to people with pre and post face lifts

prefacelift gearknobs are attached to the pole (screw type) facelift gearknobs seperate from the stalk.

I havent tried my self, but its what im led to believe!

I think the differences you describe are between the manual and the auto.
The gear knob I had on my pre facelift C180 is now sitting pretty in a 1999 C230K.

this is for auto only, my facelift auto gearknow comes off the stalk, the prefacelift one doesnt!

Don't mean to sound funny, but could it be that it is stuck on? (as in very tight fit)
Mine was a pig to get off the first time.

Alps have you got a pic? Mine is a pre-facelift with an old style knob (check my Gallery). Does this mean you are selling knob and stalk as one unit?

Thanks,
Steve
