Hi i tried removing the air filter today but had no joy any info on how to do it. Have looked in other forums but can't find anything your help is needed guys

I've never done this on the C43 AMG but as a started for ten...

Did you find the airbox(es)? Based upon this photo it would appear that the airbox(es) are concealed beneath the engine cover.

You can see the two intake hoses coming from the grille towards the engine cover, and you can just about make out the right side of the right airbox as you look at the photo.

I would imagine that it will most likely be spring clips that hold the lid on the airbox - or maybe a few star-headed bolts (likely to be an E10 star socket to remove).

Pull the engine cover upwards firmly then unscrew the panels that retain the filters.

Hi,
You need to remove the separate cover first, the one with the AMG badge and MB Star on it, this only pulls up and off but the plastic fixing lugs are/can be brittle and easily broken.
Remove the two intake pipes, the ones either side of the rad, then pull the main air box up and off of the car turn upside and as Ollie says unscrew the panels that retain the filters, one either side.
Have you got the new filters yet? You,ll have a shock if you get them from MB, IIRC £80 for the pair!!!

Thanks guys for your speedy replies will try and do it today. Im thinking of puting the K&N filters instead of the standard one what do you guys think is this a good idea its probably going to cost me a bit more

I fitted K&N to mine, obviously difficult to judge the difference but it (may) have made it slightly louder and a little bit freer-revving (I'm pretty sure about the first but the latter may be pschological).

Bear in mind though that you need to clean the airbox out regularly and make sure you service the filters exactly as K&N describe.

There's a school of thought that says the K&N can cause more/faster damage to the sensitive MAF sensor, not experienced this myself but ymmv :D

I have used K&N filters in the past with no problems generlaly.....however, I last fitted one to a BMW328i and I seemed to have slight problems with hesitation and this, in hindsight, could have been due to damage to the MAF....I have stopped using K&N now for this reason..

Use green cotton ones with no oil.
