I've just bought a '98 C43 which is mainly in very good shape aside from very slight signs of bubbling around the rear keylock on the bootlid. It is almost too minor to worry about but is this an issue that MB UK should attend to under their anti-corrosion warranty? Car has mainly MB (but not all) service stamps.

AFAIK you need to have owned the car for 6 months before M-B will consider a claim. But no harm in taking it in and asking. Without FMBSH you may only get a goodwill contribution ... in which case it may be cheaper to get it done privately.

As said above, keep it for 6 months then try. Will not matter if stamps were with MB as long as it has been serviced regularly + the bodywork hasnt been resprayed in its past.

Hi,
Sorry to say MB will not touch it, too old and if it was registered pre October 98 the warranty won,t even apply.
I have known a late 99 C43 with less than 100k on it with over £15,000 of Main dealer service reciepts be refused instantly just based on age, if indeed you got a goodwill contribution this will only succeed in giving you a price that is realistic with the high steet.

Thanks for the replies - I know a good bodywork guy so will probably just take it there; it isn't bad enough to bother getting into any arguments with MB UK about anyway..
