Tommorow I get A C55 AMG to test drive for w/end - I have to make the 130 mile trip to collect it via train from the Stealer but on Tue they shall collect it from my house themselves as they have a driver in the area making a delivery of a Sprinter and he shall drive thr car back to the Midlands.

I'm really excited... :)

They confirmed this just after 12.00 today...

However, all I have to do is make teh insurance arrangements which I have now done.

He he. ;)
Baggsy after you Brian

Sounds like fantastic idea and I am soo tempted to do so to meet all u guys and see all ur cars. I'm cheching the train time now as my other half can't drive me down to teh Stealer's as she has a broken arm/color bone otherwise I could have got her drive me straight down to the Stealers early morn. I will ahve to get two connecting trains plus undergorund :( - Stealer will pick me up from the station upon arrival.

In evening we have got a function to attend but like Maff said it should not really be a prob for me to make an appearance.

I don't want to make any false promises but certainly will try as I would love to meet u all.

P.S. If I do make it tomorrow then we will all "test" drive it to its limit (where safe to do so...) ;)

So, how is it???

I guess it's too early. I know if it were me I wouldn't be getting anywhere near a computer 'till the car had gone back.

Maybe its on its roof in a ditch ........ ;)

or he's fallen in love and has run off with it :D

Hi,

Apologies for not being able to make it to the GTG on Sat or replying sooner to the thread with feedback (been out practically all w/end crusing) :) . I did not make it to the Stealer’s until after 11.30AM and had couple of errands I needed to run back at home afterwards before attending function in evening therefore was unable to attend the GTG.

The car is fantastic and is parked up at home (its going back tomorrow – I’ll be taking it out for one last spin tonight when I get in after dinner). I managed to cover just over 470 miles since collecting it (it was about 120ish miles) back to my house from Stealers. The car is beautiful and first AMG I have ever driven (its not exactly a CL 55 but I am in love with the car) and really impressed. Acceleration 0-60 and 100MPH was amazing and breath taking. Late last night I found a quiet stretch on the motorway (no cameras) and put the beauty to the test flat out as very few cars were about. The exhaust note and sound of engine when in town sounded so good bouncing back from buildings/shops and was so pleasant to listen too that I did not turn the stereo on. The growl is juist awsome/

However, I got flashed by a camera (just one flash) and am keeping my fingers crossed that nothing will come through as I understand it is normally 2 flashes? Was a little silly of me I know  .

Had a blast with couple of Porche Boxsters and a Subarau over the w/end and the AMG lived up to its reputation (the Subaru occupants gave a thumbs up but one of the bloke’s in the Porches who was with a woman just made a hand gesture at me as he had been shown up and I just had to smile and blew a kiss).

Only pics I have at moment are on my mobile phone (I will have to figure out how to down load them on to PC – my cousin should be able to do that for me as he has got he cable to connect to phone or something). Other half is gona go and shop for digital camera today and I may then be able to take some decent pics and share them with u all.

Like Maff said in his engine ECU thread “20 mins of driving one…” I would want the AMG and he was sooo right. I definitely am all thumbs up for getting one (September) hopefully if all goes well.

Only fault/problems with car was with BAS/ESP light coming on every now and again but upon switching off/restart and turning the steering wheel full lock side to side resolved problem (this was a known issue on early W203 so was surprised to see it on this the C55). SAT NAV for some reason was not working too well and switched itself off a few times at random.

As expected very heavy on fuel (especially way I was driving) but what the hell (such fun to drive).

W/end was fantastic and was driving with a very big cheesy grin :)

Flash. Thankyou for reporting and well done just for getting the drive. Having spent time in AMG cars this weekend I can appreciate how wonderful the noise and performance is.....................but you presumably are lent the C55AMG as a potential customer and yet still the electrics dont work. Sat nav doesnt work ESP/BAS doesnt work.

Three times Ive looked at W203 and three times reliabilty has put me off. :(

Not a problem. This forum has been great and the least I can do is provide some sort of feedback from the C55.

I agree with your comments regarding reliability (normal fix for BAS/ESP is replacing sensor (s) or wiring harness modification. In relation to SAT NAV I have no idea.

The only reason I managed to get the C55 as a demo for w/end was due to being introduced to someone who had very “close” ties with the Stealer’s Principal. It was the Principal that “pulled” all the strings as the Sales Manger was very reluctant to do the extended test drive or even source the car, and they even had difficulties in souring the car. Fact that I was not local etc. did not go down too well and the Sales person who did the handover even said “how you have managed to get this for w/end I don’t know…but enjoy”. My local Stealer would no even loan me a E320 CDI for a day when I had enquired recently.

I am hoping that the BAS/ESP and SAT NAV will be a one of issue and guess I will have to bite the bullet (I am not due to take delivery when I do place order eventually for another 7 months anyway).

I have to say that when I was handed over the car it was not even valeted and fuel was on reserve light flashing on computer. I was told that I would have to wait for another hour to have it cleaned as they were busy. I just took the car, did a quick inspection for damage/scratches and made a note on paperwork stating that bodywork was “too filthy to inspect for scratches/dents/damage. After getting the car home and doing weekly Tesco shopping with the other half I actually gave the car a quick hand wash myself and used sponge on the alloys etc. and dried it etc. (took me just under an hour). You would at least expect them to have the car in a presentable condition. I had to spend 15mins trying to find a petrol station before heading back home.

Probably the best wash it's ever going to enjoy during it's tour of duty as the stealership demo car!
