Another new project! Mercedes C55 AMG W203

Amazing project! - Puts my humble W203 project to shame.

Only thing id change on yours would be the yellow calipers :)

Thank you! 🙏

I think you’re doing great with your w203 project and it’s coming along!
I’ve thought of posting videos on YouTube as I work on my cars but I’m not brave enough to do that 😁

Nooooo, not the yellow brakes, I thought they go well with silver cars 😁.
I did think at one point to just paint them silver ( oem finish ) but then I thought, just go for something that will stand out a bit :)

Agree. Yellow Calipers, are your signature,
and look great! 🙂👍

Today I had a chance to start the car up since I done all the work above and I can confirm, it starts 😆
As the rocker cover gaskets are now down, I thought I might as well do some cleaning in the engine bay. It wasn’t bad as you can see from the photos I posted earlier on but there was room for some improvements and here it is now :)

Very good Sam. Just what I expect from you.:)
Tip when you need new brake pads, use Powerstop z26 carbon ceramic pads from RockAuto in the States. No brake dust. Price, very good & my last set were delivered in 3.5 days
I have them on my S63 Coupe & Range Rover Fifty:thumb:

Do you have a link ?

Go into this, pick the type of pads you require (depends on your usage) I use Z26 Street performance carbon fibre ceramic pads. You then pick the make & model of your vehicle then front or rear (you may have to do it one at a time if you want both front & rear, can't remember. It then shows the suppliers. Pick RockAuto. it then opens the RockAuto site. Add to cart, prices are unbelievable (typical American where customer is king) You then pick how quick you need them as delivery prices vary. Very fast delivery. Last time I ordered on a Sunday night, at my door Thursday morning. Can't get that service in UK. Any queries, email RockAuto, they basically answer by return. You get the pads, new rubber bellows, new clips to hold them in & new pins, plus lube. Everything. Great pads, no dust, stopping power, great. Break them in according to instructions. From memory accelerate to fifty, hard braking to 15mph, repeat 3 or 5 times then accelerate to 30? brake to 15, repeat 3 times then drive for 10 to 15 mins without braking. I broke mine in on a Sunday morning about 6am so no one was behind me. Who is the idiot jumping on his brakes  Have them on my S63 AMG Coupe & Range Rover Fifty & previous Range Rover Sport. You can also buy the brake sensor but I just got them from Eurocar spares:thumb:
Just remembered check to see if there are any RockAuto discount codes

I can confirm the above. Used the same pads on my previous E63 and there was a distinct lack of brake dust with no decrease in performance. They are cheap too.

Thank you! :)
I will order some for the S63 first even though the pads are brand new and genuine ones but as I mentioned, I’ve never had a car that gets brake dust on the wheels so quickly. I keep wiping the wheels every time I park the car up 🤣.

I finally managed to get some genuine floor mats!
I couldn’t find anywhere brand new oem ones but a friend of mine recently bought a C class W203 and it has the same interior as mine. It’s not an AMG car so the floor mats have the Mercedes writing. Anyways, he’s car had a problem and he might scrap it and he kindly offered to give me the floor mats.
I washed them properly with the jet wash and they’ve come up really well.

I also realised that the original floor mats were not black like I thought they would be but grey. I found some old pics of my car and noticed the original ones were like the rest of the interior.

Thank you! :)

That's OCD for you, Sam. 😉🙂👍

Also, my fathers car was due it’s MOT and got that booked it but I also noticed that the tyres were getting low.

I ordered four new Continental MO tyres and had them fitted including the wheel alignment.

Clean pass and also gave it a well needed wash. He was happy how clean the car looked and said I should take his car more often as I always end up washing it afterwards 😆

Quick stop at 9:00pm to use the hoover  but that wasn't working so had the car hoovered the next day.
Love the torque of the E350 and the 9 speed gearbox is so nice and smooth.

Just checked my previous Powerstop accounts. It was Z23 pads I ordered not Z26, but check the type you require, each to their own

Yes they where the ones that came up when i put the S-Class info in there website.

Hello again,

I done the oil change yesterday as that was the only thing I hadn’t done due to changing the rocker cover gaskets so that’s one more thing out of the way.

Old oil [ if we can call it that as it hadn't done more than 50 miles since I last changed it ]

One thing that had been bothering me was the new Michelin tyres that I ordered for the fronts. I hated how the sidewall of the tyre looked. They were the pilot sport 4 but looking at the tread pattern, they looked so chunky, more like a winter tyre and it bothered me that it didn’t match the rear Michelins :wallbash:
Well, I managed to get some other new Michelin tyres that are the same tread pattern as the rear ones and now they look much better 😁

Before

After

No pic's of the whole car outside with the different front tyres as it's raining today and my cars don't come out in such weather 🤣 but such a small detail has made a difference in how the car looks now [ to me anyways! ]

I’ve been told by some of you to keep the updates coming so here’s another one :D

Next job was to start machine polish the paintwork.
So far the bonnet has been finished. Boot lid has had stage one completed.
The whole car should be finished in the next couple of days.
The same guy that machine polished my S63 is doing the C55 and he does a fantastic job. He’s very passionate and a perfectionist

Car is looking good Sam, but you have to sort those boot badges out before he finishes polishing it! :)

Thank you! 🙏

I was hoping no one would spot the position of the badges 😆
You are right, they're not in the correct places but at some point, the previous owner removed the badges and then the AMG one was added on again but in the wrong place . It should have been put slightly higher and more to the left. As I didn't want to mess about with it just in case there was any imperfections behind the AMG letters, I added the C55 same position as the AMG one
