Had the secondary cats and resonator taken off the C55 estate yesterday.

The decision to do this was made for me when one of the secondary cats developed a tinkle that turned into a rattle that turned into an embarrassing racket.

Very nice sound now. Slightly deeper a little louder but not Barry Nova loud.

Thanks again to Wright-Tec (Andy) for doing the work while I waited and drank his coffee.

is the secondary cat the ones in the middle of the car, just after the gearbox?

will the car fail the MOT emissions test if you remove the secondary cat?

Hope you dont mind me asking but how much did andy charge you for this ?

Matty. I don't mind you asking but Andy may not like me answering. Best thaing is to give Andy a call and tell hime you saw him on the forum..

FYI: Olly at PCS and others on here will do this work for you and all have slightly different methods and.... I am sure prices.

I should have thanked Olly for confirming that the initial rattle was most likely a cat.

FYI: When they opened up the cat the honeycomb had become completely detached so was free to mover around and make that horrible sound. I now see why some people bash them with a mallet to keep them quiet for a while.

I would recommend these guys keys bexleyheath mercedes specialist to anybody i have used for a number of years and put many friends/family their way - not one complaint yet excellent service and very reasonable prices.

Hi Brucemillar,

I have recently bought a C55 & am considering removing the 2nd cats & resonator. I've read that there are a couple of different methods - x-pipe or straght pipe or H-pipe?? What method did you go for? Are there major differences between using different pipes? Thanks in advance, I'm planning on getting some pictures of my car up on the forum early next week.

Nice.:thumb:

Have you noticed any difference in performance?
