Well chaps and chapesses ,

Just returned from a refreshing 5 days in North Cornwall ( Rock ) in my pals W203 C55 that i borrowed .....

Great car, enormously fast , and not too thirsty, fun on the lanes and on the A roads too :bannana:

Couple of jolly incidents, the first on the A303 on the way down, tucked in behind a W203 C32 estate , wondered initially if it might have been one of the members on here as they are quite few and far between .....

Anyway, the chap driving it had been eyeing me in his rear view mirror, and had obviously formed the conclusion that because I am a young guy, it must be a bodykitted up C200 or something, because as soon as we hit the dual carriageway, he nailed it ....... but i was ready for him .......

As we passed him easily , he glimpsed the extra pair of exhausts that we had on the other side of the car (4 as opposed to 2  ) , you could almost see him lean over to his wife saying ' Hmmmmmm I wish i hadn't done that .......':p

Then later on in the holiday, returning from Lands End up the A30, a 'young ruffian' in a gary-ed up Mazda MX6 V6 (with extra 2.5 V6 stickers on the back window  ) couldn't quite believe that the Mercedes estate that had been quietly lurking behind him while travelling at high speed , could overtake him quite that quickly ......

Childish , i know, but enormous fun all the same......

The C32 probably had a lack of performance due to intercooler pump failure... otherwise he'd have kick your ass :p

Ps it wasn't me !

Sorry, in what way would a C32 kick a C55's ass ? :confused::o

Maybe on fuel consumption ;)

I didn't want this to become a 'my car's quicker than yours' match, just relaying a bit of fun i had ......

Given the way mine is right now I've seen diesel clio's pull away :(
The only thing mine does quickly right now is use fuel
How was the C55 on juice ?

Ok ........ averaged 24.5 mpg on way back ......

15 around the lanes

Never intended to be a 'mines quicker'
24mpg ~ impressive for such a beast.

Wish I had mates with an AMG I could borrow - nice, total stealth motor.

Hope you had your eyes open for "safety" cameras, Howard.

I know that stretch of road and it's littered with the damn things. All too easy to get a bit enthusiastic and accidentally go past one at 71mph.

Oh, and go easy on the comments about Garys...;). We don't all wear burberry.. my C43 is even de-badged for extra subtlety..

Cheers,

Gaz

Fantastic looking machine.
Hope it sounds well from its V8 on full chat :)

5.5L V8 in a C class ~ Brilliant

Love the quad exhausts !

its not the speed that counts its the length of time you can keep it up for that sorts the men from the boys,???

Don't see many in that colour - your mate has taste - most C55s seem to be silver or black.

You forgot to mention the old guy who overtook you on the dual carriage way in his 300TD - that was me

The worst performing car in the world can be driven quickly by a good, experienced driver.:D

Most of us would probably do the same in the circumstances - enjoy !

The 32's and 55's have very very similiar acceleration speeds, if you passed him with ease then im certain that there must have been some kind of mis-performance on his part or the fact he was in c mode and shifting manually.

Btw not making it mines a quicker thread, just giving my 02.

Nice One mate, fantastic looking car...

Nice car,. You have some good friends to loan you a beast like that, can I be introduced? pretty please!

Not sure about that ..... i do have a little experience , i didn't pass my test last week ;) and i do have a little track time under my belt too ....

I did have some crazy old guy with his wife in the car in a Toyota Avensis estate full on chasing me and pulling some really crazy s**t ....

Like i would accelerate past a group of slower traffic while it was dual carriageway and then pull in comfortably before it went to single lane ....

He would be caning the pants off the Toyota and then cut in across the white hatching, just to stay right behind me  why would he do that ? several cars beeped him , he just sat there , i wasn't travelling slowly, but i wasn't going silly, hence why he could keep up with me on the single lane, but when the dual carriageway came, i was off, and he honestly was driving like a nutter just to stay with me ..... i have no idea why .....

When i turned off for a wee, i half expected him to follow me into the car park, but no, he just carried on ..... maybe he drives like that all the time ....

Andy , when i say easily, i mean its possible that the sort of speed we were doing he just backed off first .... i certainly was gaining on him continuously from the moment we both nailed it ......

Nice car - don't think I've ever seen a C55 in the flesh. The stealth stuff is fun, my V6 4WD Sharan is not in anything like the same league but still catches people out regularly!

C55 Estate in cubanite silver is lovely :)
