A **** heap
Looking at a couple of modifications on the C55.

Have recently been chatting to AmD in essex,
about having a rolling road season for a before and after mods

I am looking to have the air filters changed to PiperCross, Exhaust Resonator Delete and 2nd Cats removed, then Re Map.

They say performance wise i could see 15/20hp gains and the same again torque wise.

Has anyone had experience with them or any advise on the modifications im looking at doing...?

This is amd who do not even have a afr connected to their dyno!

Go eurocharged, wait for the July event mate!

Apart from the increase in noise the only difference you will notice is that your wallet will feel a lot lighter!

For 15/20 bhp gains I would give it a miss unless you also got better MPG when not hooning around. I'd look to "add lightness" to the car to increase performance and economy. Unfortunately this is hard to do on a merc without compromising comfort/noise etc.

AFR dyno..? does this make a big difference... what would the benefit be?
Thanks Alps just read up on the July Event, waiting on some prices now ;)

AmD in west thurrock... i think near HKS

AFR = Air Fuel Ratio I would not have my car dyno tuned without it.

The hp gain on a 55 N/A is not huge but you should see a changed in both the torque gain and more importantly the curve. One of the C55's at the Eurocharged event was producing more torque at 2000 rpm after the dyno tune than it was at 4000 rpm before.

So you can get better results what dynos that have AFR?? Is there a major benefit to having it.? Sorry if its an obvious never done any rr stuff :s

First safety, getting the right AFR will ensure that you are running without problems. If AFR was not monitored you will not know if you are running rich and leaving power or worst running lean.

The guys next door to AMD (Torque Developments) can monitor your AFR on there dyno. If you cant wait for the Eurocharged event you could always get a stock tune from Eurocharged run it at Torque Developments and then feedback the results to Eurocharged and they can adjust the tune.

Speak with any of the Eurocharged guys on here PCS and MSL can help you even if you want to do it remotely and not travel.

If you want to speak with Torque Developments speak with Shaun, Mark or Sam.

I've done this on mine, there is a sound clip here somewhere but m actually looking to make her a bit quieter as it is droney/intrusive between 2 and 3000 RPM under load to the point of annoying, however over 3000 and on light throttle very quiet;- Just so you are aware!!

Any ideas how to reduce the noise? I thought the tips where a little shorter as a result and not sure if this would help (lengthening them)

As said go to Acid for a Eurocharged tune or I used Ray @ West-Tuning for my C55.

He took my car from 363hp to 398.8hp from a custom dyno remap, worth mentioning the car also had a Renntech CF air box.

I had the car dyno'd at SRR a few months after and I believe results were 396hp.

I defiantly noticed a difference after the remap.

An update;- The noisiest part is actually below 2000 rpm but under load, I suspect its because there a long pipe between the headers and the first restriction so can resonate. I was wondering about H pipe and X pipes but looking at the exhaust not sure it actually needs one as its goes into one 'drain' and then to the twin boxes however;- Thoughts for a C55?
I do need to check exactly how the secondary cats and res box deletion has been done. I'm looking to reinsert the res box (or similar) so any suggestions welcome. Olly did mine but I Think I might take mine to Acid for a little 'fettling' !!

Put the CATs back in and just have a res delete.

I'm having an X-PIPE Res delete only on my SLK55 soon - I'm not going to mess with the CATs.

I imagine the OP had the secondary cats and resonator removed. It's the classic performance upgrade for V8's. The secondary cats have little or no influence on emissions but does increase the sound.
