Hi all im in a bit of bother. On the way the car gave me a fault on the dash of brake wear visit workshop which has never come up b4. Now i cant move the car out of park. The abs light is also on, is this to do with the brake pad wear indicator. Bit worried as im now stuck. I also have another error on the dash of 'display faulty visit workshop' and a lightning arrow, i think this is the wingmirror that i took off the other day but it works fine.

Call out Mobilo or any breakdown service you maybe a member of, sorry i cant suggest anything else. Good luck.

Now ive got another dash error esp. Not a member of any guess im gonna have to cough up. Gow can it be towed in park? Wont move surely?

Sounds battery related to me try disconnecting it for 20 mins then reconnect. If you have the tools with you that is?

Cheers guys, and thanks prime, I had no tools or nothing with me, but eventually disconnected the battery and it seems to of cured the problem. The codes are gone, and they weren't being read on the reader.

Very strange.

Anyone got any ideas what this is? Must be related to the ESP warning. Why would that lock the gearbox? Im gonna have to leave some tools to undue the battery till it goes to MSL next week lol.

Also are brake pads ok from euro car parts? or should I only buy from MB? Not sure if there front or back till I have a look tomorrow, though the backs look like they have loads of meat.

Buy brake parts from mb, if the car was last serviced at an mb dealer you are covered by mobilo.

How old is your battery and how often do you drive it? The cheap option is to check it for volts and charging before you go digging anywhere else. All easy done with a multi meter. Low volt batteries can cause all sorts of strange problems some totally unrelated.

Yeah, think that's the first port of call. Looks like theres loads left in the front and rear pads.

I drive it a bit, it usually gets used every other day at least, mostly town driving. No idea how old the battery is, only had the car since Feb.

Just tested the battery, its at 12.4 idle, when I start the car it doesn't go below 10 and goes up to 14+ so it seems ok.

Almost sounds battery related as above can cause a huge amount of gremlins. A battery can appear fine sometimes but not hold charge.

Have had a similar prob with my E55 recently. Turns out to be the alternator and not the battery. the battery just died with similar warning messages. This also happened a few weeks after I bought the car 2nd hand a few years ago.
New alternator just set me back 800€ inc fitting from the local MB dealer.

Grovsie31 - did you ever get this resolved?
