Thought I should add a little write up of my C63 after a week’s ownership.

I collected my car last Friday mid day, I ordered a black coupe with porcelain leather, a combination I wasn’t 100% certain about if I am being honest. I loved the pacha gray in my convertible but you can’t get that on the c63 L

Then I spotted moff’s thread on here who had the porcelain/black interior which I also toyed with and looks so right. This is probably the better option for day to day use as it will require less cleaning. After 2 days I had to clean the driver seat bolster as it was turning blue. But I digress.

My car was parked out the front of the show room waiting for me when I arrived and OMG I chose the right combination J The car in my eyes looks just right in black with the 19” alloys.

First impressions after 250 miles, I am never going to get bored of the brrrrpppp on start up, my neighbours might. The controls feel nicely weighted, heavier than my e350 conv. Trying to get used to the heavier accelerator pedal has made for some bouncy take offs.

The brakes on this car are awesome, the handling is positive although I can see that as I get used to it it’s going to spend a lot of time looking out of the side windows through the bends. I think I will become very good friends with my local shell station and tyre place J

The cabin is a lovely place to be, I would like a tad more head room, I am not huge at 6’2” but my hair does brush on the roof and I would normally sit a little more up right. But I have found a comfortable driving position. I spec’d the Harmon stereo (I’ve had it in my last 3 – ML, E-class and not this one) and i think it is a worthwhile upgrade. It sounds betting in this one than my convertible but doesn’t feel as powerful as the system in the ml.

Downsides: The power seats take an age to move forward and back when someone is getting into the rear of the car, it has a serious drinking problem J 159 miles to a tank... I’ve not done a run in it yet although I am off to Dover Wednesday with work which is a 320 mile round trip so I will see if I can get into the 20’s on a quickish motorway blast.

If not I can forgive it for the noise it makes alone J

Anyway another of my babbling some crappy iphone pics:

Have you got any pictures of your R34?
A friend of mine has one (username GTR Cook on GTROC).

Lovely cars.

Stunning. Thanks for the report back.

I have just done 176 miles on £30 of the black stuff. Hmmmm wonder who had the most fun and the best sound track.

Congratulations on a lovely car and again thanks for taking the time to tell us all about it. More please.

Lovely cars.

Thanks Rashman.I've been on GTROC since 2000 Rashman and used to be very active in the Skyline GTR scene in my younger days . I've had my GTR34 for 12 years now !Wow how time flies .I hardly drive it nowadays as the last tuner messed up my tuning , so I went from 640bhp to 500bhp . Going for remap when I get round it soon...lol

Sorry for thread hijack Blondie !

What a great looking car!!! Thanks for the write up. So as to not be too disappointed with the mpg I have decided and budgeted for 15 mpg as my average!! Like you my shell garage will get to know me rather well!!

What was your lead time quoted by the dealer at the time you ordered? What when did your C63 arrive?? I have been quoted 9 weeks.
Cheers
Jeremy

Looks awesome and I love the interior too!

Same wheels as me and they're stunning especially when polished and in the flesh rather than pics.

I amd 3.5 weeks in and going to do a 1 month in report, but very similar thoughts to you.

I've averaged 14.5 mpg over the last 300 miles (850 now completed) mainly from country road and town driving. But I failed to make it to 1000 miles before flexing the throttle so 500 miles of gentle running in has now been turned into more spirited driving in the dry!

One thing that I am still struggling with is traction out of lights etc, not able to get the power down very well in 1st and 2nd gear, but I am working on that! I even managed to get a bit of wheelspin in reverse in a wet car park! Not got any confidence in the Yoko's yet!

Like you I didn't go for the privacy glass and I've been umming and arr'ing about doing it... think I quite like seeing if the Police are behind me :)

Yeah, I thought you would be on GTROC :D

12 years.. Wow, that is a while. Must have had it from nearly new!

Great car. Very iconic and has great road presence.
Sorry to hear about your mapping issue.
Hope you get it sorted soon.
Not sure where you're based but my friend uses Abbey Motorsport. Swears by them. But I'm sure you know the game well enough and have people who can look after your car.
Good to hear you have kept it for so long. Look after it as I don't think there are a great deal of good examples out there.

Sorry for hijacking from me to, Blondie!

Great car, lovely colour combo :)

.....the 159 miles to a tank makes mine look like an eco car......thanks for that uplifting thought :D:D:D

Now that's my kinda colour combo! Very nice but 159 miles out of a tank??? Daymn....that's some going :)

With regards dye transfer on your leather, all you need to is buy a good spray on leather cleaner (I like Gliptone...you can find it on Google ;)) and give the seats a wipe once a fortnight. Takes all of two mins and will keep them looking new for as long as you do it.

Maybe (probably!) it's my OCD but I never understand when people say black is easier to maintain - you still get the same dye transfer / dirt etc on black leather. And eventually, you do see it on black too....it's why even black leather on some very new cars car lose that nice new 'matt' sheen and instead look shiny. So IMO, you need to treat black leather (and steering wheels) in a similar way to keep it looking new and avoid the dreaded shine.

I am a gliptone fan and don't mind cleaning my seats :-) I wear diesel jeans and the colour transfer from them is horrendous!

Had the car 2.5 weeks now and have covered about a 1000 miles in it. Did my first long drive yesterday, Southampton(ish) to Dover and back, approx 315 miles in not the best weather J

Managed to average 22mpg which I was pleasantly surprised with seeing as I didn’t hand around and had a bit of fun on the A3, especially through the hindhead tunnel. Jesus Christ do these things shift in the upper rev ranges. The speed the engine revs rise at 50mpg is amazing. I keep looking at a video clip and it’s almost as if someone has blipped the throttle they rise that fast.

Observations: Drivers seat not as comfortable as my E-class convertible, ended up with lower back ache and a numb leg. I am hoping this is because my 6 year old has buggered around with the lumbar support as I played around with it on the way home and it seemed better.

I would like the seat to go lower.

The view looking over your shoulder when pulling out of side road at an angle is seriously restricted by the B-post.

I seem to have a couple of squeaks, one from the driver’s seat side bolster and one from the centre of the dash. Not particularly noticeable but I am quite ****.

Ok so that is the bad stuff which reading it back through makes me sound like a spoiled brat. They are minor and haven’t stopped me enjoying the car and driving it at every, and any, given opportunity.

I love the handling which I am beginning to explore a bit more now, seems very sure footed, the performance is amazing and the brakes are brilliant.

My wife has driven it a few times now shopping and to take my son swimming and cannot see what all the fuss is about. But does agree it is a beautiful car. She has admitted she probably doesn’t drive it like I do so doesn’t understand the fuss.

I am taking her away for the night to a posh hotel Friday, I explained that I would give her a demonstration of what it is capable of. She pointed out that if I wanted to receive any sort of hotel bedroom reward I wasn’t to terrify her...

Good review, I plan to do similar soon as I am also over 1000 miles now :)

Tell her to come along to a GTG...we are all very sedate drivers...
