c63 - a week in.

Less nervous than me driving home still probably sloshed :-)

:-) I trust her with my car,she knows if she bins it not to come home.

She wanted to use it today and asked if I would take the family wagon to the station. I did expect to find her car empty so I could fill it up. But no it had fuel.

Mrs Blonde has always moaned that my car is too noisey, when I brought the loaner for her to see and started it she moaned it was too loud, drove up the road and it was too loud etc.

Got in last night and asked the standard question when she had used my car, hows my baby? Lovely came the reply, followed by "...is it wrong that I actually love the noise when you press the accelorator down hard"

I knew it would win her round.

Drove to the NeC yesterday for the gadget show, took my 6 year old for a day out. 260 mile round trip guess what? I did it on one tank, which I thought was pretty good. When I say good it is only 19.5mpg... Wasn't taking it that easy either. Had a bit of fun with a newish CL AMG on the A34 on the way home as well.

The ligh leather is getting stained on the drivers seat as expected but a clean every week is keeping it looking fresh. The rattle in the back isn't getting any worse although I will get it booked in to have it looked at.

All in all still in love with it, still struggling to pull away smoothly when cold but not a huge issue.

Used the sat nav for the first time without a Tomtom backup at the weekend and whilst i dont think it is as good as a tomtom it's a huge improvement over the command in my ML

Hey MB, glad its all going well. Interested in your pulling away issue, I've not really got that but I don't use S/S+/M until the engine is warm and keep it in C. It's pretty smooth pulling away in C most of the time but I have had a few 'jolty' incidents :)

I drove to Manchester last week (120 miles), took it easy as had plenty of time and managed 23.6mpg door to door with a couple of blasts and getting stuck in a 25min traffic jam.

On the way back I was bored so pulled off the M56 headed through Wilmslow and blasted across the A537 and then the back roads from Buxton to Chesterfield before heading back into Nottingham - had an amazing time, slightly tamed by the SPECS on the A537 and the random streams running across the road from melting snow. Stuck in M and attacked using 3rd and 4th only, was awesome... mpg on the return not so good, but overall managed 19mpg over 240 miles and the light came on so 30 miles or so to go.

Still not got the confidence to really let the rear slip yet, trying to find somewhere open to test it in relative safety first.

I'm also regularly cleaning the bolsters of my seats, but they are cleaning really easy.

The Piano trim drives me insane though as it attracts dust even after just cleaning it!!!

I take it you've been using Sport handling mode? I've been testing it out to try and figure out the calibration. If you're very heavy handed or pitching the car into lift-off oversteer, it quickly puts a stop to all play. However if you are aggressive but progressive with both throttle and steering inputs, it'll let you hang the back end out nicely.

I think I'll have to do a little video of this soon ;-)

Yep, I really enjoy sport handling mode, I've let the rear slip exiting roundabouts and the odd corner hitting it quite hard in second. Will all the stability control turned on its frustrating accelerating hard in 1st and 2nd too.

I've just received a 32gb memory card for my Gopro so will be taking some video as well. I did take one last week of my exhaust which I need to edit and in car with it mounted from my sunroof, but I can't post it as you can see the speedo DOH!!!

Also now very familiar with RS which is fun but really a waste of time :-)

I generally use C mode until it warms up then use S mode for normal driving. I've tried to pull away smoothly in C and S and both seem to make the car lurch. It might just take a bit more time getting used to the accelerator, compared to my E350 I had you need to press the accelerator a little. Minor gripe, if I am that concerned I could just let it wamr up a little until I move off.

You can get a leather gaurd that helps massively with this. :thumb:

I've been using the sport handling, on the cold roads with the traction control all turned on it intervenes way too much.

Thanks for starting this thread, I have been following it with great interest.

I will be looking to get mine in 2 to 4 weeks, either a 2010 car or I may finance a little and go for a 2011/12.

Where near Southampton do you live? I am only down the road in Ashurst.

Not updated this thread for a little while so thought it about time I did!

I've now had the car 2 months, loving it, not al plain sailing but overall I am still a happy boy.

To start, the bad stuff.

Rattles and squeaks. Firstly I have not taken it back to the dealer to be looked at and I am sure they will be able to do something about it.

The drivers seat squeaks. I appreciate I am not the average size male. I am 6'2" and over 18 stone, I spend a lot of time in the gym so I guess I am heavier than average. but come one after 2 months the seat squeaks.

The rattle from the rear, which I think is coming from the parcel shelf seems to be getting worse.

The good stuff.

The car has now covered 2.5K miles and is running lovely, goes like stink. I am loving the direct front end and loose rear. The speed that it can cover ground is just mind blowing at times, I have managed to scare myself a couple of times. Do not turn the TC off fully in the wet, I ended up sideways at 70mph when I booted it from a standstill. Put it back in sport mode after that.

The brakes are awesome and inspire confidence, which is a good thing seeing as I tend to reach corners a lot quicker than expected.

I think the car looks gorgeous and I get a lot of very positive comments.

General points.

Rear tyres are looking a little worn. Probably more my driving style than a fault of the car.

I am averaging 160 miles to a tank in normal day to day driving. I took the car to the NEC the other weekend and managed 260 miles to a tank which I think is roughly 19mpg which I thought was quite good.

The cars provoing quite pratical, I picked up 3 of my friends the other weekend and they all fitted in without too much bother. Not sure they would want to be there for any longer than the 45 minutes they were. My daughters seat fits perfectly in the front so I can take the kids away.

I was stopped by the police last friday night in it, the first time I have been stopped in a car for almost 3 years. I was early to pick my wife up and took the longer windy road. Nice even, sun out, sport mode switched on... Little sideways round a bend in front of an unmarked police car. Flashed his head lights then decided he would blue light me. Give him his due he was very good about it, praised that I have chosen a very quiet lane to play silly buggers, told me about the deer in the field and how I could do a lot of damage to my car should I hit them. Asked me to be a bit more careful. Thanked me for my time and left me to get on my way. Much respect to the guy, he could have been a condersending git.

So all in all still a very positive experience. I am stillcleaning the drivers seat on a very regualr basis. But overall I am still in love with it.

I am looking into getting a remap, I thought it would take me longer but why wait... I am currently looking into the options available and reading the reviews to see if it is worthwhile.

Le Mans will be my first proper road trip in it next month.

Congratulations, that is the absolute best C63 I've seen.

Colour combination is classy and will age well imo.
