So today I took the day off and went for a drive. I headed down to Silverstone with the aim of avoiding Motorways and main A-roads at all costs and it was brilliant! Very low levels of grip meant plenty of slipping and sliding and I had a epiphany with the steering, more of which I'll save until my next monthly report. Suffice to say I burnt almost half a tank of fuel over the 90 mile trip, with the onboard showing just over 17mpg by the end.

Anyway, and has been mentioned on my 'Anyone used Race Start' thread, I've been itching to take some footage of the C63 Race Start feature but the current bout of awful weather has continually scuppered my plans. That is until today :D It's just a pity that, even though it was dry, the cold meant I really struggled for traction and all 3 Race Start attempts ended with the car short-shifting into 2nd :( Oh and for the record, that's 6 Race Starts that the car has now performed. I shall await the comments of 'I wouldn't buy that car as a second hand buy etc'.

Thanks for the video, sounded great onboard, roll on summer.

BTW how had the secured the camera to the car? I have a GoPro car kit (and camera of course), which is bascially a big suction cup, just never got round to fixing it to the car? Wondered if you had the same and how you found it?

Hey Doc, how dya embed video links so they show the detail from the off and play in a window?

When posting, use the youtube tag over the text box. Then in between the two [youtube] blocks that appear paste in the text from between "watch" and "&feature" from the youtube URL of the video. In the case of Ghibbets video it is "?v=2ujLLfjKi-0"

^ What Pete says.

Brilliant to see a C63 being used as it should be. Also a privilege to be sat in mission control (my own mancave) watching the pilot do it all.

Thanks for posting.

That sounds beautiful.

Had my 350 CDI for 2 months and already working on wifey to have an AMG next.

Nice one, what will help a lot in a better start will be to switch off the TC fully and spin up the wheels a couple of times to get some heat in the tyres....then do a race start. :thumb:

Mark.

Thanks all - glad you enjoyed it :D

Nope, nothing as fancy. The onboard was shot with a cheapo key ring 'spy cam' that I got from ebay for about £4. It's just taped to the rear window. You can see it on the first external run on the video.

Is the car on winter tyres? :) Lovely sound though!

Nope, summers.

Yes I should have tried that. The weather was very cold and I'd been struggling with grip/traction all day...which was fun :D

Anyway, have done a few Race Starts now so will defo take another video when the weather is warmer and I can get a proper launch. I'm off to Canada over Xmas so may pick up a Go Pro whilst there. The price difference between here and there is criminal!

Or let the tyres down to 20psi. That should give good grip for the launch.

What a gorgeous sound !!!!!!!:D
